Runners! A phenomenon!

Hi there, there are alot of angry feelings everytime people don't get a rematch, almost hate too many times. This phenomenon has a solution though; add best of 1 or best of 3 etc., to your seek. Or even add option to ignore all seeks that don't match your "best of". That way people can be matched up according to this basic way. I'm sure alot of people would like less hate? There is so much hate on this site, I think it is time to either police the haters(according to terms of conduct rules), or simply fix it by my simple suggestion...

Did this need a second posting?

Sounds like you need a crying towel! Why is it such a big deal if you don't get a rematch? Play someone else!

EDIT:

--Misunderstood-- not lyckosam who needs the towel. Other who hate on people who dont give rematches.

You are missing the point; Semper_Amplio.

Point was, they were giving me and others crazy hate messages, calling me and others runners! This would only be solved by my suggestion!

Avatar of Semper_Amplio

Yes it would lyckosam, your right. I think that there allot of imature people who are on this site who simply like to cry about not getting their way. I just delete those kinds of comments and move on. I am more concerened with the cheaters who (for whatever reason) like to use a bot. I think that should be the first thing chess.com tries to fix. Like a setting that allows a player to only match games with someone else who pays for the site. I think if you are a paying member you may not cheat as much. But I digress.Laughing

its odd that declining rematches creates such strong feelings.

but it does, nonetheless.   and after you get that angry comment on your wall- you Yell "you want me Burley guys- Come on!" loudly at the PC.

the wife looks at you like your crazy- the kids are embarassed-  your cats are tired, you dog is hungry.

....and the moment passes.

Truly, writing a nasty note on someone walls does nothing!  perhaps all those people ranting about rematches will have premature heart attacks or something.

Lot of you focus on the annoying messages, or that this is a cry post!? I was rather trying to bring to light that a feature on this site is missing. Matching the right people up, that was the message, not police messages or indoctrinate people to be more polite.

Also missing  features to promote rating on a poster in forum and feature to promote rating on people that play chess. I wouldnt mind to have a rating and for other to have a rating of lets say 1-5 stars and that I can use filter to not have seek with people under 3 or even 4 stars rating. Or upvoting and downvoting is also a poplular way to do things in other forums.

I think many of the people who accuse others of running don't enter the first match with an intention of playing 2 or 3 more. If that's the case, they could well ask for a best of 3 at the opening stage itself.

Rather, they want a rematch only when they lose - so they can have their "revenge". And they get angry when the other person "runs away" like a "coward" denying them a chance for "revenge".

This thread is fun to read. I don't know what kind of price increase on membership is needed to cover the costs of such an upgrade, but it does sound like an interesting feature.

If the opponent signs up for the best of 3 game series, best of 5, etc. and then "withdraws" maybe they lose the games and points just like how the current live tournaments we have work now?

There's some of that going on, but there's also the opponent merely refusing to play them again because of either a swindle, or close fight, or because they had white and don't want to play black to be fair. They remain online to play chess against others but always refuse rematches in those circumstances I listed. These people are without a doubt cowards.

As far as I'm concerned, after a very tough game I'd prefer to play again the same guy instead of any other...

Perhaps it would be prudent to not post on a topic relating to actually playing chess on this site, if all you ever do is troll the forums, Kaynight.

I don't mind not getting a rematch. I move on and seek to play other players.

I hate runners, they just get my blood boiling. Agree.
