If the group is set to 'anyone can join' you won't get any alerts as its instant acceptance.
If its 'by applying to join' as long as you have email settings/alerts on you should receive a message letting you know your application to join a group has been accepted or decline.

I have a suggestion. I notice that when I went to apply for a team, there is no message that tells me if I have been accepted or not. I think a message should be sent to your chess.com account after the admin. has accpeted/declined your offer. Erik? Staff? Your statements about this idea?
