@MarkProb Which green background is that? Could you paste a screenshot?
If you're talking about the board, I think all the piece and board styles that are in V2 are also available in V3.
Here's an example of the 'Green' board with 'Book' pieces in V3:
The closest I can get to simple board colour I had & liked before is now called " Bases ". The closest I can get to the simple piece style I had & liked is " Alpha ". These are taking some getting used to but aren't that bad. The BACKGROUND is a light to medium purple. It would be ideal if I could use the piece & board styles, mentioned above, with a lighter or medium green background. Used to be able to have a green background on HOME PAGE BEFORE. Cannot, or do not know how to do so now without having to change PIECE STYLE & BOARD COLOUR to that I dislike. Never did have a Green Background for tactics or games. I'm just saying that that would make things sooooooooooooo much better! I really miss having a greener home page just so I can tolerate the piece style & board colour. CHESS RULES!!!
@MarkProb If I understand what you're trying to do (if not, please post a screenshot explaining what you're trying to achieve), you can go to the Themes setting (https://www.chess.com/settings/themes) and change the background (and pieces and board &c) there if you choose the Custom theme.
For Chrome (and soon other browsers, I believe), there's a plugin which allows you to further customize the colours of various bits of the page.
Correction. I really miss NOT HAVING A GREENER HOME PAGE so I can tolerate the piece style & board colour. The '' Bases " colour is shade of brown (with wood grain) & off white. Maybe there is a way & I just don't know it. If that is so I would appreciate the assistance. CHESS RULES!!!

But I have to agree 
It's not a complete mess, but surely a big mess... It currently looks like the only way forward though, so i hope it all goes well and the problems are quickly resolved.

That's my biggest dislike of v3 MarkProb; I much prefer the look of the board and pieces in v2 and struggle with the 80s arcade game look of v3.
