45|45 and 90|30. If I could only choose one, I'd prefer 90|30. 90|5 would be good too.
Time Control Changes?
i am a very slow player and i lost like 10 games because of time in a row. i want stuff like 1 hour, 45 min etc.
I too find the chorus of commenters suggesting a longer time control be added to the presets a welcome sight.
Given that the server adds the incremental time as a bonus instead of a delay (if you have a 45s increment, you get the entirety of it whether you move in 5 seconds of 5 minutes) I wold recommend implementing a long time control with a shorter increment, 60|10 for instance. Otherwise, the bonus time will add up too quickly at the end of the game.
I'd like slower time controls like 45/45 and 90/30.
You could even trial them for a while and see how popular they are.
Yes slower time controls settings would be the single biggest improvement I can think of for chess.com. But if too many time control options are available, it might dilute the seek pool, unless a player could initiate a seek for multiple time controls at once, and play whichever time control finds a match first.
45|45 is what I'd be most pleased with. Other long time controls such as 30|30 or 90|30 are also nice.
Hey all, see my blog:
http://www.chess.com/blog/DanielRensch/time-control-changes-we-think
We need your help! We are thinking of:
Removing 5 | 2 and implementing 3 | 2 Removing 30 | 0 and implement 25 | 5 in its placeWhat do you think about this? Let us know!
Thanks!
Please do NOT get rid of 5/2. It is perfect for me... fast enough I can get a few games in. Slow enough that I have time to think. Please, please, please do not get rid of it.

First thing first, thank you very much for your hard and good work and for giving the members the chance to promote their ideas. This is, at least, respectful.
Nevertheless, I'm a bit disapointed here. In my opinion, you're adressing something that's not really an issue. Deciding about the faith of 5|2 and 30|0 is quite useless, in my opinion. Anyone who's younger than 99 years old with a mouse can always set his favorite time control manually.
The real issue here is this one, I think: Should we implement slow LIVE 90|30 automated tournaments on Chess.com? I think the answer is «yes». I have organized and run some 90|30 Live WEEK-END tourneys lately here. Last events were a 4 round LIVE 90|30 WEEK-END tournaments for western hemisphere and same thing for eastern. We had 60 sign-ups for west and 50 for east. See the related groups here:
http://www.chess.com/groups/home/the-laquowestern-hemisphere-slow-live-week-end-championshipraquo
http://www.chess.com/groups/home/the-laquoeastern-hemisphere-slow-live-week-end-championshipraquo
I used a software for pairings. I could have handled an unlimited number of players. However, could you imagine what it would be if it was automated? And how in the world could I achieve 110 sign-ups without the support from Chess.com if there wasn't interest?
In my group here, the «Slow Live Chess Association» (http://www.chess.com/chessgroups?keyword=Slow+LIVE+Chess+Association), we also run negotiated tournaments, which means that the players must agree on a common suitable starting time for their games. And despite the apparent «pain in ass» factor of having to negotiate the day & time of the game, we play between 50 and 75 45|45 and 90|30 games per week. I'm alone to manage this; no admins.
I hope this make it clear what the actual issues are at Chess.com

Slow Live Chess Association
Why replacing?! Why not just implementing and keeping the 30 / 0 ?
Slow time controls = better learning. Out there you have a bunch ICS - Internet Chess Servers - with those very short time controls and I thought Chess.com would make it differently (and better!) by providing the chess community around the world with different standards meaning better quality games, learning and more options for playing live chess on-line.
Add my voice to those that would like to add 45/45 and change 30/0 to 25/5. I like to learn from the tactics trainer and the chess mentor, but sometimes I want to learn from playing as well, and you can only do that affectively on the longer time controls.
I prefer to play slow chess. I would like to see 45/45 and 90/30 time controls.
