Gee, sounds a lot like our current executive branch of government. Ooops! Did I say that out loud?! Seriously, just because something sounds like a good idea doesn't necessarily mean it can be implimented. Consider that there may be factors concerning the integrity of the site that might be affected.
What's the point?
Absolutely nothing new is being implemented on the current platform. Until V3 is succesfully introduced all the programming resources are tied up. Frustrating as it is, I can understand the logic: why put time and money into something that is about to be discarded?
Version 3 of chess.com. Erik kind of lied to us a little bit when V2 came out a couple of years ago when he claimed it was all new code. Apparently all they did was put some new lipstick on the old pig. This time it does seem to be a completely new effort judging by the amount of time and effort going into it, and how far behind they are. We'll see...
so...if they're building new code from scratch, this may take up a year or 2 to finish it up?
They've already been working on it.
I believe it is currently being tested by some members of Chess.com.
I'm not a member of the beta testing group, but yes there is a version being tested now. Last report I read was that it still had bugs and many features had yet to be implemented.

Interesting, hadn't known there's actually already a beta version of it out. tbh, I thought it was abandoned, because it has been a long time since we ever heard anything from its development.
Well, then it makes sense. But it's kinda sad to have to rely on random forum posters for obtaining this kind of information and not from the staff themselves.
How do you think the forum people know? ...
Staff has a topic about it somewhere (I guess it's buried now... V3 was supposed to be out in August IIRC).
Anyway, daily suggestions are easy to talk about and implement if you have unlimited resources and 100 programmers on staff. Otherwise waiting years is normal... but that doesn't mean they don't read the suggestions and remember the good ones.

Hmm, no it isn't. There's this other place (whose name I won't promote here) where improvements are submitted on a nearly weekly basis and transparency is king, and it's way smaller and less equipped than Chess.com. But what do I contribute to Chess.com? Nothing, so I guess I don't own the rights to complain too much about all these hold-ups. This is still, after all, the best Chess site I know of on the whole planet, so please take my criticism with a grain of salt ...
Of course suggestions are looked at and considered, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that the financial position of the people at the top is the number one priority here.
For the record, Staff up to and including Erik do sometimes respond to suggestions on the Forums.
For instance, we have had the assurance that non-paying members will not be limited to Lego-Type avatars.

Well... I think small and new places can do that, so it doesn't surprise me. If their site or whatever takes off I think they'll end up the same :)
I may be totally wrong, but I think sometimes they outsource or otherwise rent these programmers... then after a year or two and it's all set up, they only have a few guys to maintain, and that's their whole job.

Show me one example where a suggestion made by a member here was actually implemented into the site. Not even hatin', but every week I see lots of threads created filled with ideas on how to improve this or that feature which Chess.com has to offer, though I have yet to see any of them actually considered (or even commented on) by the people who run the show.
What's the point in having a debate, when none of the people who'd matter seem to even take notice of it?
