i acually understand how its annoying but really,i dont care. just wait, more time for you to think so you can play better, thats my opinion
why do premium members get extra time in online chess?

They get vacation time Acctivated AUTOMATICLLY whichs means if they have vacation time they will never lose on time. I find this annoying but it is not a big problem

I give thanks to the people who pay the costs, yes, thank you.
But I think it is a shame for you to get better conditions in a game.

Perfect phrasing thanks that is what i feel too

The simple solution is to only play in tourneys that don't allow vacation
Abusing vacation time is officially not allowed, though I don't know how well it is actually enforced.
Personally, I like the benefit and have had it save me during one unforseen and uncontrollable event (a tornado that caused limited power, cell and internet along with other more pressing issues ), even though I did end up timing out on a couple of no vacation games at that time.
If the vacation is being abused, report it.

The problem with only playing in tournaments that don't allow vacations is that these tournaments can last years. I don't know about anyone else, but I do occasionally like to take an actual vacation.

OK, no vacation and fast time controls . I actually like the way one other site I used to play on handled stuff like that. Tourneys and games had an optional bank of time that can be used (per round in tourneys) and that could be used to absorb vacations and some unforseen events ... or allow longer time time to think on particular moves.
I think adding a new tourney type with a max number of vacation days per round would be a good addition.

I think that limited vacation tournaments would make sense (rather than all or none), but more fundamentally, more time control options would be nice. X moves per Y days, hourglass, time per game (plus optional increment), etc. Options to give more certainty around the duration of a game (any by extension, tournament round) as opposed to just a move.

Having played on Chess.com for several months I obtained a "GOLD'' membership. This was to improve my game with more tactics. Well now, let me tell you(& U & U &U) that this was one of the few times the bullseye was hit twice with one shot! My gameyness has improved. One sunny day my harddrive fried. Off to the shop it goes to effect repairs under warranty. Having several games on(3 days a move) I was concerned about losing them on time. With a new harddrive my computer came home to roost. It's bad enough to lose a game to a mrlucky2u beacause of '' 1'' stupid move, but on time, when you've 3/days a move????? I may be long talker, but he was rated >150 points less than myself! That automatic vac. kicked in & everything was smooth as a chicken egg. Best money spent in a long time! Life sometimes dishes out unexpected surprises & this has you covered. CHESS RULES!!! M.P. P.S. Kudos to mrlucky2u for kicking my tailfeathers!

It's not really an advantage, just a convenience. How do you know your opponent didn't know it was automatic? He just saved himself the trouble of manually "going on vacation" likely because it would reset for him.
Besides do you really want to win in that manner? You should take your frustration out on the chessboard and do all you can to win and quickly get over it.

No I don't really want to win that way but either move or run out of time. My opponent is taking forever! He is rated 1200 so I don't really care about the extra 4 rating points I am going to get, but it is a tournament game and I care about that. I am just saying, It is ok to be saved on time, but to pronlong the game isn't that not fair?
No it’s not about fair or unfair, the benefit it provides is minimal. The negative thing about it is that opponents agree to play a game of a certain length based on how chess fits into their lives and when one of them spends months finishing the endgame it ruins the rhythm and it takes the fun out it.
they dont get more time, just auto-vacation protection
No, the higher the membership you buy (Gold, Platinum then Diamond) the more vacation time you can accumulate; it accumulates at the same speed but the maximum is more.
