Basic members can't create online tournaments on Chess.com sorry.
If you upgrade, you can create tournaments and mark then as 'By Invite Only', so only those you actually invite can join it.

I have enjoyed playing chess on this site and want to creat my own tournament for invitees only - so that we can have a club competition online. I can't work out how to create a torunament and would welcome some instruction...
