Here is all the information you need about the tournament.

This is from the recent chess.com news area:

The format is a single-round-robin and the official website promises live commentary from Dirk Jan ten Geuzendam and Simen Agdestein, as well as live game broadcasts and live video.

The time control is 100 mins for 40 moves, then 50 mins for 20 moves, and then 15 mins to a finish with a 30 second increment from the start. The "Sofia" anti-draw rules will apply.

The drawing of lots will be settled by a blitz tournament on the 7th of May at a time control of 4 min + 2 sec increment.

I haven't looked at the games in depth, but it looks like Anand is mopping everyone, as usual in rapid events...

EDIT : note to self : look at the loss vs Naka.

Avatar of InfiniteFlash

According to chessbomb.com/site, Anand is winning the blitz competition on tiebreaks, his score is tied with Carlsen, Karjakin, Svidler, and Nakamura.

Well, it was blitz, Karjakin won, and Anand doesn't win rapid tournaments all that often nowadays.

Huh, true.

How did that happen ? I believed Anand was basically unbeatable in rapid chess...

Levon Aronian in 9th place is pretty surprising.

In other chess news, Anna Muzychuk has a +1.54 advantage over Yifan Hou right now--great game!

Also, Kramnik was replaced by Peter Svidler in the Norway event. I'm also checking out the two Norway games, Carlsen vs Topalov, and Anand vs Aronian. Both games are pretty even right now.

Avatar of trysts

Anand vs Aronian just ended in a draw.

Lahno vs Ushenina is really good, as well!

(I blame my double espresso for me being so talkative this morning)

Great info Randomemory! Is there a way to watch yesterday's matches?

This game is pretty neat as well, being played now. Here is the present position:

If computer analysis is anything to go by, that looks like the only game which could be decisive.

Avatar of trysts

Wow! Muzychuk won Hou! Lahno and Ushenina drew, So Lahno and Muzychuk are tied for first.

Mind you Radjabov has got himself intoa bit of time trouble here.

Avatar of trysts

Nine minutes for 24 moves!

Avatar of JRTK73

I think there is a 30 second increment per turn. So he has an extra 12 minutes.

Avatar of InfiniteFlash

43 seconds to make 3 moves, and he's probably lost...oh rajdabov.

Wang Hao is in a similar position also (at about -1 and running out of time.)
