Nah, your first game is against an opponent of similar ranking. Afterwards, it's catch as catch can. Whomever is idle is your opponent.
One arena gambit for a stronger player is to purposely lose your first game, then you will more likely be paired with a weaker opponent for your next round. At that point, you just hope to get paired with weaker opponents, which is more likely to happen since the ratio is in your favor as a stronger player.
You're in control of your own results. Just win all your games while playing really fast and you'll win most of your tournaments. Stop blaming others for your own inadequacy. I don't like the fact that people try to manipulate the pairing system in this way, but don't fret over it: just enjoy your games.
These ratings are not just to make you look more badass but for an accurate pairing. Wanna play CS and check afterwards how much fun did u have ?
I don't know what CS is. Sorry. But playing strong opponentsthan is both educational and exciting.
