Nah. That isn't the tiebreak system used here. (Nor in most other chess events.) The tiebreak is based on how you did in ALL of your games. Not just with the person who you tied.
Tie Break Points

I missed the third round of Sam Adams Fantastic Fanatics by 0.5 point. I took 1.5 points from the third place player (Pyke), although he did better - one and one against the second place finnisher (Huger), whom I lost to twice. Still, there were 0.5 points separating all three players, with me being tied by points with Pyke. If I beat Pyke head to head, should there at least be tie on the tie breaker? Makes no sence to me. Every other sport, the head to head is the first tie breaker. It is frustrating.
If you play one million tournaments the situation you describe will favour you about the same number of times as the other player.
