Who is 3rd when only 2 advance to the last round?

Also, in the penultimate round you have a "Group 1" with 3 and a "Group 2" with 4 players. Winners of the groups will advance with let's say 4 and 6 points. 2nd players will have max. 2 and 4 points therefore.
What would happen? Would both players be tied for 3rd or will the one in "Group 2" win because he was lucky to play more games?

Well when you eliminate first place in each group the person who is 2nd in each group also will advance. No in the case you mentioned computers are not that smart as they only do what they are programed so i figure the player that was in the larger group would be 3rd that came in 2nd place in that group. Unless he barely had enough points to make it in which case the person in 2nd place in the other group would come in 3rd.

So basically it comes down the result of wins. Bla bla bla as most tournaments have a tie breaker.

If I understand your question correctly, you have two brackets in the semi final round. Only one person advancing from each bracket. You want to know who gets third. Very simple. Whoever has the most points amongst the remaining players who did not advance. Only point in the semi final count. If two people are tied on points then tiebreaker would be used. The larger bracket has an advantage because they will have more games to aquire points. Hope that helps.

That somebody gets into the larger bracket by luck. And has an advantage therefore.

It is also harder to advance in a bracket with more people. So in some ways it is more of an advantage to be in the smaller bracket. Pros and cons to both.
