I think it's because the tournament points depends on average rating. Over time as people win/ lose games, the overall average rating may go up or down. Chess.com has a formula for calculating the points, and it involves average rating, so it changes slightly over time. Hope this helps.
Why the tournament points keep changing?

I joined a tournament named Groovy LXXXIV which started on Dec 26, 2013. It's a 60 players, 3 day/move tournament. It's also my first tournament here. The prize point for the tournament was 563 when the tournament started. And today it is 559! Why it keeps changing? I am new here and can't understand the reason. Can anyone tell me about it? Thanks.
