Another quick scotch gambit
Like the title says, I recently won with the scotch gambit after my opponent played a move which has been tried by masters but does not fair too well.

I played a scotch game today on live chess and played well I think, spotted a nice tactic to gain rook vs bishop and pawn and converted the advantage before my opponent could react.
This game I have finished what I feel is an intructive endgame. From the starting position, I have a rook vs knight + 2 pawns. Improvements and comments appreciated!
Here are 3 games that I have recently played in Online chess which have all used some nice tactical shots to win material and/or mate!
In this live chess game I just lost, I played quite well but failed to spot 2 crucial pins that my opponent had which lost me the game. Comments appreciated as always :)
I think I played OK in this game, didn't make any blunders and held the initiative for most of the game. All comments and improvements appreciated like usual :)
One minute I have a nice position, the next I play a stupid move and my opponent has the initiative for the rest of the game.
This was probably my best game to date, because I think I played well, played the opening correctly and didn't make too many mistakes but all comments are welcome and appreciated!
Here are 2 games I recently played, both using the scotch game/gambit to beat my opponent in 13 moves.
I am going to try and analyse my most recent live game using the method GM Natalia Pogonina set out in a recent chess.com article: http://www.chess.com/article/view/how-to-analyze-chess-games 1) Thoughts from during the game: Play scotch gambit ...
I managed to play against 3 opponents trying out my new opening (see previous blog for analysis). In all the games I blundered: in the first the blunder was noticed but endgame technique saved the day. In the second I was torn apart after playing ...
In this blog, I aim to increase my knowledge of this opening, the ideas for each side and whether or not the opening is a viable option as part of my opening repertoire. The game begins with: 1.e4 Nc6 (Nimzowitsch Defence) 2.d4 d5 (Scandinavian V...
After losing a stupid first game and easily winning the second, I played a third and final 60/0 time control game against a player of approximately the same rating. I think that this was probably my best game on live chess and I think that it s...
Here's a recent game I played. I am sure I made some errors but would like an outside perspective to see what I could have done better, all help appreciated :D
In this live chess game, which i have been improving in rapidly which i am happy about, i sacrificed a knight in exchange for a mate on the underguarded kingside. I had earlier managed to open the h file up and i really think my calculation skills...
In this game, i faced the devils opening (1.d4) and after blundering a pawn, i managed to fight my way back into the game and won with a lovely (imo) queen sac.
Day 2 of the Hereford Congress and I felt that I had to play well... being my birthday and all that stuff. But game 3 was a complete disaster, when I played h6 to Bg5 in the dutch defence... I wont be doing that again in a hurry! However, Game 4 w...
First day of my first OTB tourney was a moderate success! With 1 win and 1 loss, I am on 1/2 (basically average). Here are the games for you to enjoy and tell me where I went wrong!
When chess.com went down for approximately 2 hours yesturday, Vesped and me (with Nytik as a referee) decided to have our first Kriegspiel chess experiences. The first game didnt go well for me... i didnt really understand the rules and lost to a ...
After a break from playing my uncle, I managed to beat my uncle in a good tactical fashion! In that time since then, I have adopted a new opening as white... the adventureous Scotch Gambit! 5.5 - 8.5 to the uncle
In the third game of this contest, Nytik and I played the same opening as in game #1. However, this time I didn't play Nc6, which resulted in an entirely different game. I managed to gain a pawn after an inaccurate queen move by my opponent, but I...
After making a horrible blunder in our last game, I was hoping that I could play better in this match. After choosing the two knights variation of the Caro-Kann, the position became quickly locked, and I found my opponents queen deep into my terri...
On Wednesday the 15th of July 2009, Nytik decided to send out an open challenge to play an unrated match consisting of 10 games. I decided to accept this challenge which has been dubbed "The Greatest Most Amazing Championship Match The World Has E...
So after a random choice, Nytik got the white pieces and I had to settle for the black pieces. Nytik decided to use the Alapin (or c3) sicilian to counter 1...c5, which worked out rather well for him. I have not played against the Alapin too many ...
