The exciting Vishy vs. the World vote chess match against GM Viswanathan Anand is fast approaching, beginning on Monday, September 30. Chess.com has recruited a star squad of four coaching advisors to provide analysis and recommend moves (reflecting the Kasparov vs. the World match of 25 years ago) and is excited to announce their identities. The coaches are:

All strong masters, what these coaches also offer is the ability to clearly explain chess concepts and what is happening on the chessboard as a game is ongoing—an ability that will be key to guiding the world team to sound plans and strong moves.

IM Tania Sachdev

IM Tania Sachdev was an official commentator for the 2013 World Championship between Anand and GM Magnus Carlsen, and has continued to provide expert commentary for both Chess24 and Chess.com in the years since. Now that she's back from Budapest after helping the women's Indian team to win gold in the 45th Chess Olympiad, she's ready to help the World team to try to topple Anand in this historic match. Tania is an international master and two-time national champion with a peak FIDE rating of 2433 and surely someone you want to listen to during the match.

IM Sagar Shah

IM Sagar Shah is the cofounder of ChessBase India, one of the premier chess content websites in the world, including streaming, commentary, and more. An international master with a peak FIDE rating of 2468, the highest among all four coaches, Sagar is sure to have both the chess and communication skills to play a key role if the world is to shock India's greatest chess player.

FM James Canty

FM James Canty is another strong player (he received his long-overdue FIDE Master title in 2022) and star commentator, who will no doubt be an important part of a World victory if it is to happen. Canty's engaging style of commentary has won over countless fans, and is sure to translate into some highly-valued advice for the world team.

IM Kostya Kavutskiy

Last but certainly not least, IM Kostya Kavutskiy of ChessDojo rounds out the coaching squad. The only FIDE-certified trainer/coach on the team of advisors, Kavutskiy will take the same expertise that has helped so many at ChessDojo and Chessable and bring it for the world to use on its quest to do what it couldn't 25 years ago: win a match against a world champion.
