Welcome to the first gambit tournament! Here the opening I have set is the Albin Counter Gambit Fianchetto Variation.

1) This leads to exciting, attacking games. Both sides are oppositely castled.

2) Lots of fun and risk involved!

3) An engine can probably defend for white, but black's attacking chances are great, and so are white's.

Here are some ideas for both sides:

1) Usually the stronger, more aggressive player will win the game (the better tactician).

Black's idea is to play Qd7, castle queenside, not right after you play Qd7, but maybe a little later. Try to demolish the fianchetto by playing Be7, h5, h4, hxg3, which opens up a file. Castling kingside will ruin your attacking chances. Play f6 later to remove the e5 pawn and develop a piece in the process.

NOTE TO BOTH SIDES: DO NOT TRY TO GRAB FREE PAWNS AND OPEN FILES TO YOUR KING.

White's idea is to play a3, then b4, or just b4 immediately. Follow that up by playing b5, Qa4, and move your rooks to open files.

For a guide, because black is at a material disadvantage, I will present one game where black wins and the idea of this opening:

Note that white plays a little poorly in this game but I can find better games as the tournament progresses. Copy these moves on  a chess board.

1. d4 d5 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 d4 4. Nf3 Nc6 5. g3 Bf5 6. a3 Qd7 7. Nbd2 f6 8. exf6 Nxf6 9. Bg2 Bh3 10. O-O Bxg2 11. Kxg2 h5 12. Re1 h4 13. e3?? d3 14. Nxh4 g5 15. Nhf3? Qh3+ 16. Kg1 g4 17. Nh4 Ne5 18. f4 Rxh4 19. gxh4 Nf3+ 20. Nxf3 gxf3 21. Qd2 Ne4 0-1

Have fun Sealed, hope to see exciting games now that you get the idea and style you're supposed to play with!

Welcome to the Tournament! I will be holding a best game competition. A player can submit their game to me if they think it is worthy, like if the attack was conducted well. The prize will be a trophy I haven't decided on.
