Thematic Mini-tournaments

CaptainPike | Aug 4, 2012, 6:13 AM

To strengthen our game, I believe it is important to be familiar with different openings, both Queen's side and King's side. This expanded vocabulary will undoubtedly assist us in increasing our ratings and making us better chess players. Each opening system shows us different aspects of the playing field and the potential of our pieces.

With this end in mind, a series of small 6-person, U1400, 3 days per move, vacation time allowed tournaments has been arranged. Each is thematic in nature and presents popular to very popular opening systems. The available tournaments are:

I have been involved in tournaments where the tournament director neglected the tournament. I will do no such thing.I do track comments and I do respond to messages. Due to my work schedule,  I can not monitor each player in a tournament each day, so I depend on the contestants to advise me if they feel something needs to be addressed by the TD.

I am a stickler about keeping the ratings of contestants consistent with the tournament parameters.

Please bear in mind that as this is not an "official" tournament, the scripts will not place you in the appropriate groups, so if your rating changes, feel free to sign up in the correct category!

We look forward to seeing you in one of these tournaments!
