This event will be an Open Tournament up to 1800 Elo.  It requires that one has played at least 100 games on chess.com and the intention behind this is to provide some measure of confidence that a competitors Elo is relatively stable and reflects their ability.

Similarly, to keep the playing field level, your Elo must be at or below 1800 when you sign up AND no more than 1825 at the start of the tournmanet.  Anyone who is higher than that will be asked to leave or eliminated before the event starts by the TD.

Please join me to celebrate the coming of Spring.  With only 72 potential participants, two moving on per group of six and a maximum of 5 simultaneous games, everyone should have a good chance and I'm sure it will attract serious players who enjoy fair competition.

This tournament will NOT begin any earlier than May 5, 2012 and no later than May 20, 2012.  The day may be extended to give people more time to sign up.  However, it goes off on May 20 with or without the required number.

Please join me... SIGN UP today!    Pat G.     Cool

There aren't nearly seventy-five people in this tournament.  However, we need two more for three groups of six.  Perhaps you can pass the word along to your friends.

Either way, it should be fun with two moving on per group of six and a nice Elo spread.  It will be very competitive.

If you are interested, I am also sponsoring a Closed Ruy Lopez Variation Tournament.  Here is the link, if you want to check it out.  However, it's for players between 1400-1600:
