Bill.  Just picked up this thread.  I clicked on the website in the posts and it is a dead link.  Is this software still available?

I didn't know about Kebuchess.com, but now that I do, I have to admit, their video, with referenced positions from grandmaster games is impressive.

Watching the Kebuchess.com video also reminded me of the free tactical sites such as http://chesstempo.com/chess-tactics.html  which offer full stats, chart your improvement history, allow motif-filters, present puzzles in blitz or standard times, and automatic-increments of puzzle strength according to your ability. However, they only contain run-of-the-mill puzzles that everyone's seen before, like the ones which were pulled from older free-tactics site, http://chess.emrald.net .

Therefore, the two BRIGHT STARS that your '500 combos' set has is that it is freshly created from grandmaster positions, and that you explain the solution. This explanation is something that no site really does, as far as I can tell. People looking to buy a combo-set should take that into positive consideration!

    Ah. Thx, Mr Bill

In the sample problems you cannot first solve the problem, it automatically gives you the answer.

If you are going to plug your software at least tell us how features compare with the standards like CT-Art, Chessmagnetschool and other full-featured programs. Are puzzles chosen based on AI and previous results? What hints are available? Can you choose to do just new puzzles or just ones you got wrong? What stats are available?

The market has many programs, and feature list varies. My students use the tactics here and ChessMagnetSchool. Some use KebuChess because they have some clever marketing. Some use Toby Deep Tactics. Why should they add your program?

Wondering how this is a better sell than the online tactics servers?

    Hi jlueke

The interactive solutions use javascript (*.js)

Since it's multi platform is the downloadable version java code?

I did not reference the names of the players. There are several reasons for this...

1.Often I have slightly modified positions or chosen sub variations that didn't occur during the actual game.

    2.  I never thought of it.

    3. Laziness

You will notice that the interactive mode that I use and the "interactive mode" provided here at chess.com are somewhat different. My method allows the user to move the pieces around on the board much like a physical (real?) board. Using your example  my solutions board

Do you reference the games that the combinations came from, like informant's does? (I made one into interactive mode, hope you don't mind!)

    Hi fgm351,

    Thanks for your comment.

Some clarification on what I am selling....

The "program" is downloadable and will run on your computer without an internet connection. The site on the net is a mirror image of the download but will only be active for a few days (demonstrational purposes only)

I'm not sure what you mean by "....where you have to guess or figure it out, then it give you the answer"

Each problem is shown first just as a diagram indicating who is to play. The user can try to solve from that point and if unable to find solution or to verify solution then click on the solution link.

I think that you should make it like other sites out there, where you have to guess or figure it out, then it give you the answer

    Hi TacticsSmactics,

Not sure what you mean by stats. The problems are all taken from actual Grandmaster games. I have used many of the problems as homework assignments for my students who don't have internet access. I'm sure there is a way to build a database to rate the problems based on speed and accuracy of solutions....but ...hey do you know how long it took to compile 500 problems with javascripted solutions??? Ok I start working on it ....next week!

Nice.  What kind of stats are kept?

Awesome software! Well worth the 10 bucks (and then some!!!).  I learned more from this than from some generic online puzzle server.  Definitely worth a buy!
