We're excited to announce our new partnership with the Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025! Our titled members registered with the Indian Chess Federation can now participate in exclusive qualifiers on Chess.com on July 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. IST that lead to the Challengers section of the event.

The Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters is India's strongest classical tournament. Its first edition took place two years ago and featured star players like GMs Arjun Erigaisi, Levon Aronian, and the champion Gukesh Dommaraju

In fact, that was the tournament that put Gukesh on track to his world championship title. His 2023 Chennai Grand Masters victory earned him a spot at the 2024 Candidates Tournament via the FIDE Circuit, which then led to his world championship match against GM Ding Liren—and the rest is history.

Last year, the Chennai Grand Masters also saw the rise of yet another Indian star, GM Aravindh Chithambaram. The 25-year-old super-grandmaster made it to the headlines when he won the 2024 edition ahead of Aronian and GM Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu. That win gave Aravindh the momentum he needed to climb the ranks and even break into the world's top 10 this year.

Now, another lineup of strong grandmasters will meet again in Chennai to battle in this prestigious event. Spearheading the field is India's number one, Arjun, coming back for the third consecutive time. Joining from India are three other star players: GMs Vidit Gujrathi, Nihal Sarin, and Pranav Venkatesh.

Also confirmed for the Masters section are the Netherlands' number-one, Anish Giri, and the United States' number-seven, Awonder Liang.
