New move in the Caro-Kann. Almost a novelty.

Atomic Rift  We already looked at 6. ... Bf2ch, it came out good for White.

I'm not a very strong player, but is it a significant advantage?...still a lot to play for perhaps.

It is enough of an advantage that a strong player [master strength or above] would expect to win against a player of his own strength.

The higher the skill of the player, the more likely he would believe he could win vs someone of equal strength.

Of course the lower the skill of the player..........

Sorry I been busy past few days wasn't able to comment.

The line I had in mind was after 10.fxe4

Black to play 10...Nd7.

The variation I am showing above is an off beat one. Which isn't to bad.

Have to disagree with you. Your off beat variation is close to losing.

lol Ponz you are disagreeing with me.

When I told you the line was an off beat variation.

If you believe the off beat variation is close to losing.

Well Ponz that is exactly why it is off beat. All off beat variations are not that great. If they was great they would be on beat/mainline variation.

Its a risky line. However, it is interesting. Believe it or not I have only faced 9.Bf4 one time. In that game I played 9...f6 just sacrificing a pawn for development. I treated it as a gambit.

However, The reason you might get away with such a thing is largely due to the fact. I have never tryed playing this line in a long enough time control. Obviously in a long time control my opponent would have the time to find the best moves.

Exposing my off beat side line variation for what it is. A off beat side line.

I would never play a risky line in a correspondance chess game, OTB, or very long time controls.

You want more solid continuations when you play with longer time controls.

The line I would play in longer time controls would be 4...dxe4

Above line is more solid.

Offbeat side lines make there killing in blitz games.

Instead of displaying these dubious lines, why not show lines which have a better chance of success such as the two lines given by pfren?

One cannot learn how to play better by delibertly playing dubious off beat lines which can be easily refuted.  Better to give the theoretically "best" lines and extensions of those.  OR if you want to give an "off beaat" line, make sure it is sound and cannot be defeated almost immediately?

as you your last line:

as you your last line:

3...Qb6 is a solid line Ponz.

I showed you 2 lines I use with 3...Qb6.

One is more solid than the other.

However, I was just showing them for discussion.

Furthermore, I like the black side of your diagram.

5.Nxe4 has been played. Are you trying to agrue white is winning in this line ponz?

ponz111

X Player  Regarding 3. ...Qb6  I do not think White is winning but some of the lines you gave after 3. ...Qb6 were not very good.

Well I showed 2 lines ponz.

I play the below diagrams in

LONG TIME CONTROLS

1- The below line is considered good from my understanding in higher level. As far as I know no one has said this is a bad way to play against the Fantasy variation.

White has to ways of capturing.

However, black seems to be getting a fairly good position from either capture.

If 5.fxe4

If 5.Nxe4

The below diagrams I am going to show is what I play in

SHORT TIME CONTROLS

2- The other line I showed is what I use for fun. The draw back is white can get an slight advantage. In some cases black sacrifices a pawn and white is up 1 pawn advantage.

Here is the computer engines line. However, I am not a huge fan of it. The main reason is becuase when ever I play this position. I am going for all kinds of chaos. when you go for chaos and weird stuff you don't mind sacrificing lol. However, I only play these diagrams in short time controls. In Longer time controls you want more solid lines.

Those are some lines I have played. Obviously you can be creative and try out more lines. Alot of these lines are uncharted. I haven't seen alot of super GM games with these lines. The theory of the lines still seem rather new-ish. Which leaves plenty of room for being creative.
