Going, going, gone! (I'm off to bed)

Ahh, gotcha.  Agreed.

At the risk of hijacking Artfizz's thread (sorry Art) I've also often thought that being able to schedule the commencement of your vacation ahead of time and to have it start automatically would also be great.  If this feature were implemented you'd not only be able to tie in the notifications you've described (perhaps triggered based on a pre-set number of lead-days), but there would also be the option to expose your chess.com vacation schedule as a part of your profile for the benefit of prospective opponents.  This would also tie in the projected return time (although it would probably still be preferable to only take you out of vacation manually).

At the risk of hijacking my own thread! ( - not that threads should really belong to individuals anyway) - this would be great. On the last half-day before someone goes on vacation, they are always stressed out, trying to do too many things, and are likely to be particularly susceptible to certain types of traps.

When I'm on vacation in real life, I have time for chess every day.  (Admittedly, I don't often go on safari or on extended camping trips - or anywhere without wifi, really.)

When I'm on "vacation" in chess.com, it always means that work/life is too super-hectic to keep up with the hobbies and I need an extra day or two.

I've always found the concept of "vacation" here a bit ironic that way, so I'm glad to know there are folks out there whose chess and life vacations actually line up.  Wink

I was knighted by the Queen recently, in the castle, in the presence of a bishop. I had to pawn some valuables to be able to afford the check suit.

Nice.  The only real-life chess parallels I'm familiar with involve underpromotion and getting forked.

Yeah, but a pre-vacation notification would also be nice. As in, "hey, I'm going on vacation tomorrow" (or in a few days, or whatever). This is similar to artfizz's idea of "hey, I'm done with chess for the night."

One of these for chess.com itself would be handy, when it takes a half-day's holiday (though these are most likely unplanned).

you don't really need such a feature. if you were playing a person flying an American flag, for example, and I am from Ireland, so would fly the Tricolour. So, at night time, if it was my turn to move, I would make my move, tell them the time here, and then politely say, that was enough for me tonight, and wish them goodnight saying that I will soon be going to bed.
