pfren, i also like this line(i'm currently playing a VC with this line as black, though my team made a mistake and it's in worse position now). The game continued 6.cxd4 d6 7.Bb5 Be7 8.Nc3 Be6, and the game looks equal.

ponz111

The book I co authored says to play 6. Qb3 but Now I think 6. cxd4 is best [but equal]  In practical terms if you do not play pfren it is equal but chances for both sides.  If you are playing computer assisted chess it is very equal.

Worstiest, are you playing against PP?

The_Worstiest

ponz111, yep. In 2 games, but with them in the third.

ponz111

The_Worstiest  I think you are a member of several top teams?  Is it possible for a non member of those teams to never-the-less watch the vote chess games?

The_Worstiest

ponz, i believe if you want to learn something, you should do it from the most experienced that you know(i wish be in more specific teams, but i can't yet). But what do you mean by watch the vote chess games?

maheshroks

cool

ponz111

I would like to be able to watch some vote chess games without being on either team and wonder it that is possible?

For example I would love to watch the vote chess games of Ponziani Power [my old team] but I do not want to participate in the vote chess or be a member of that team.

Well, you simply need to go to the Vote Chess page of the group, in PP case, this one: http://www.chess.com/groups/votechess/ponziani-power, and you will see the current ones, and the completed ones.

Worstiest  Thank you very much!  Now I can view the games!

ponz111

I see Ponziani Power is playing #18 and #29 and not sure about the 3rd tream

the game vs #18 thepirate crew is a rematch

bigclound   I had more games than wanted and decided to accept that this game was a draw so I could concentrate on the other games. I also saw a lot of pitfalls for trying to win with Black in that position. Not to mention the chess engines were repeatedly giving 0.00  I just think it is a draw.

However, I hope someone takes up your challenge.

cptal

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. c3 Nf6 4. d4 Nxe4 5. d5 Bc5

6.Be3 ?!

ponz111

6. Be3 is a reasonable try however this gives Black a small positional advantage:

The 2nd game  FM Bluebird 1964 vs Ponz111 is over  0-1

I will have to say that in this variation playing without a chess engine is just about futile.  Also, he resigned at an early point.  Here is the game:

ponz111

Yaktrinas, no, he did not use an engine through his friend. He talked and analyzed [with his friend] this very complex variation before the game ever started. After the game [both games] started he did not use a chess engine.

It is amazing that he does so well without using a chess engine. Right now he is leading the Ponziani Tournament where chess engines are allowed [and encouraged] but I think in that tournament, again, he is not using a chess engine.

I think, he does not even have a chess engine. He takes a lot of notes instead.

Although this is my first time at a sort of centaur chess, I could "tell" he was not using a chess engine.

I now feel a little guilty.

Unfortunately FM Bluebird was banned for cheating. I sincerely hope this wasn't due to "cheating" by using engines in the games played here! Frown

I can't imagine it was for unrated games.

ponz111

It was clear we could and would use engines.  I am very sad at what happened to FM Bluebird.  He was also playing in the Ponziani tournamentt where engines were allowed.

The_Worstiest

I remember before he being banned updating on his profile that would be offline for a year.

mapearson1990

I have never played the Ponziani and have only faced it very rarely if ever, however I have found the games and analysis on this thread really interesting as well as the discussion about this opening. At the very least I will feel more confident when I next see this opening played against me. Good thread Smile
