Wives
Two things:
1st - I apply the first-things-first principle... chess comes second to everything urgent and important in the home (added chess benefit : it clears up the mind, and readies it when one goes back to the chess board); and,
2nd - I've made it clear to my wife and kids that I can drop everything chess-related when my help is needed in the home, anytime
All the best, my friend.
My wife is a big supporter of my chess playing to the point where she shouldget an award for absolute patience!
CJBas you lucky dog you...
My wife understands to a certain degree but I know she can get frustrated with my chess obsession, and the word obssession is an accurate one on all counts. Still, my obsessions with hobbies typically fall by the wayside and get replaced by others - this one has not. Hopefully if my wife develops a problem with it, she'll tell me and we can work out a deal. Chess forever! Long live the board!
Mt wife and I met by playing chess. We played chess the whole time we were dating. We still play chess.
I never realized how rare this is and how lucky I am.
My wife and I also met through chess and I believe she's even crazier about chess than I am !! I am indeed a very lucky man !
Man, you've touched my very intimate problem....my wife thinks she's second when I tell her...let me have a chess game.
I can only play when she's not at home. By the way, if I try to find a moment for a quickie (no more than 5 minutes game) and she's around, well you know, I know I'm gonna lose that game, why? because I cannot feel free and concentrated to play.
My girlfriend (might as well be my wife, and will be) is my first passion and she knows it 100%. That eliminates a lot of issues from forming. I don't drink a drop, don't pal around with the guys much at all, so even if I play a lot of chess, she stills gets me to herself more than most of her girlfriends get their guys. If she wants to plan something for us to do - then we do it - and love it.
Doesn't play herself, so mistakenly thinks that I am much smarter than I am; a bonus. (Well, truth be told, she lets me think that. She's seen me get clobbered and knows my rating is moderately mediocre, but knows in her heart and head that she's my Queen so treats my like a King anyway:))
There really is a Romeo and Juliette...You got a good one bro, Hang on tight. And thanx for your interest in my post.
I posted this in good faith that we could all be friends...Please let's not sweat the small stuff. In regards to post 70 of course!
You can't go far wrong buying a diamond ...
Self to wife: "I've bought you a diamond"
Wife: "You shouldn't have!"
Self: "... membership".
Wife: "Really, you shouldn't have. Where's the axe?"
