Repercussions for aborting online games?

Are there any repercussions to my account for aborting online games? I have now done this 2 games running. The reason being that I have set up a board position I wanted to play (the Caro-Kann) and yet my potential opponents dont currently play the opening. Hence, my chance to put into practise a recently learned opening is possibly reduced and thus I aborted the games.

Potentially, yes.

Aborting games too often will temporarily suspend your ability to abort games. This means that if you cannot play, you will have no choice but to resign (or risk further sanctions described above, by abandoning your game or disconnecting). If you have to abort, then do so of course, but whenever possible, use the features available to minimize your need to abort chess games!

I get that you want to play the Caro "correctly" but don't you think it might be a valuable lesson for you to learn how to punish those who play it "wrong"?  Just a thought...Oh, and this was lifted from the Fair Play Policy in Help & Support.

I put out an invitation for a game that after looking at the player's stats I've realized I really don't want to play.  No moves have been made.  How do I "cancel" this game?  If I "abort" it will any points be taken or given for either side?

No, aborting in Online/Daily at that point shouldn't have negative consequences.
