found it, took me 50-60 seconds.
Mate in 7
The puzzle was hard for me.
You could take grab material at different points and be winning as well.
I thought I had found a mate in 6, but I was wrong and it did take 7. If I had found a forced mate in 6, would that count as solving the puzzle, or would I have to stretch it out to 7 to get credit?
That brings up another type of puzzle: Find a position, White to move, where mate in 2 or mate in 4 is simple but mate in 3 is impossible (it's pretty easy).
I was thinking the same thing. This actually came up in another thread, where someone posted a problem titled "Mate in 5" and gave a mate in 4 as the solution. I commented that the OP had failed to solve his own problem, and it turned out that a mate in 5 was possible, although rather hard to find. The OP sent me a private message telling me I would never understand his problem.
Do you have an idea for my problem: Find a position, White to move, where mate in 2 or mate in 4 is simple but mate in 3 is impossible?
This one is very hard hope you can solve it!
