Here is an interesting point of conversation– I have multiple sclerosis and whilst many people have heard of the physical problems associated with the condition, how many have heard of the cognitive problems? Yes, problems with memory and concentration etc.I am not one to make excuses for my game but I have thought about it many times that MS will have a say on my Chess– whether I like it or not.Having said all that sometimes I cannot blame the medical condition on my bad play – just down to you an error I guess.

Sorry to hear about your condition, but glad you are playing chess anyway.  I like to think about chess skill as something that is widely different for each person.  Some people are naturally great, others need lots of practice just to get to a basic level.  Some have a disability, or whatever else that may affect their game.

However, if a person plays to the best of their ability, and enjoys it, I think that's what really matters, regardless of how good you are.

Been on chess.com for years now and you are the first fellow eMSser I have come across. Check out my recent post "anyone else" and my not so recent blogs. Keep up the good fight and don't let the MonSter get you down.

Hi, I've just played a game against you. Your MS doesn't seem to be bothering you so much as you didn't forget to mate me ;) But seriously, I guess playing chess (as well as any other intellectual activity) should theoretically be beneficial in any cognitive disability. [quotation needed :P] Keep it up!
