Sorry to hear about your condition, but glad you are playing chess anyway. I like to think about chess skill as something that is widely different for each person. Some people are naturally great, others need lots of practice just to get to a basic level. Some have a disability, or whatever else that may affect their game.
However, if a person plays to the best of their ability, and enjoys it, I think that's what really matters, regardless of how good you are.
Here is an interesting point of conversation– I have multiple sclerosis and whilst many people have heard of the physical problems associated with the condition, how many have heard of the cognitive problems? Yes, problems with memory and concentration etc.I am not one to make excuses for my game but I have thought about it many times that MS will have a say on my Chess– whether I like it or not.Having said all that sometimes I cannot blame the medical condition on my bad play – just down to you an error I guess.
