Don't forfeit me when I have time left.

I occasionally have internet conectivity issues. They don't usually last longer than a couple minutes and it is absolutely infuriating to be in an intresting game, already be annoyed that your reconecting screen hides the already loaded position so I can't even think about my move while I wait, and then reconnect to find that I 've been forfeited with plenty of time left on the clock. If you feel it's necessary to enforce this ridiculous policy so that rage quitters don't cause unecessary waits (a negligable problem, especially in blitz) at least make it based on user reports so that only those who are habitually rage quitting and not retrning to the game are punished. I've almost entirely stopped playing at longer time controls since I know there's a good chance I'll be random forfeited anytime my connection blips out.

Maybe you could do a few simple things to avoid disconnecting:

While it's lovely to have some resources to help mitigate the disconnection issue, my core complaint is the bizzare forfeiture policy. I wish someone would try to defend it so I can at least hear some reasoning; it seems just terrible design.

I should be allowed to spend 2 minutes, maybe even 4! thinking about a move or two in a 30 minute game. so why can we be fofeited during a short disconnect?

Exactly.

Also reconnecting feature is bad in here. Sometimes i can reconnect manually by going to live chess but for some reason reconnecting dialog in the other window is still hanging. Annoying. And the worst thing is when not people have connection issue but server and people are forfeited anyway. And i agree, it's dissapointing when you still have time but lose game. Some people don't disconnect, they let time run out and send messages that you it's your punishment.
