Live Chess Premoves Should Be Undo-able!

Live chess premoves should be undoable. It can be definitely frustrating. After all, online blitz isn't touch move.

Also, there shouldn't be an option to make more than one premove. Say, when I accidentally make a few premoves... well, they're undo-able, so usually my game goes downhill from there.

On ICC (Internet Chess Club), premoves are undo-able, and it's impossible to make more than one. I think Chess.com should take ICC as a model for their Live Chess.

Thoughts?

Right click to undo premoves.

What?? Well, you learn something every day I guess! :)

Well, I would not advise playing bullet on a phone... or without a mouse which will always have a right click

macer75

lol i just can't imagine playing bullet on a touch screen. Seems like a huge disadvantage to me.

Right click... what's wrong with left click to undo?

Aaa, that's the reason why your rating bullet went up for 300 points in last hour... Smile

EDIT: Oops, I failed. You haven't played it since May. Tongue Out

Yeah, I only play it in cases of extreme boredness since for the life of me I can't move the mouse fast enough! :)

Exactly the same as me. Just that I have more cases of extreme borednesses. ;)

Yep - just right click. Also, you can right click on a mac..

Its great that we can undo pre-moves, but what about real moves?

Have you ever tried to move a piece to defend one of your pieces or to attack another to realize the frustrating mistake that you accidentally let go one square to early? I propose, as has been mentioned, that there be an undo button.

I am all in favor of touch chess. I don't believe that this undo option should be abused by players who make a move and then realize that his move was not necessarily the best. If the undo button, once clicked, required the approval of your opponent, then all honorable players could play to the best of their ability.

With an undo button, we would not have to be afraid of silly mistakes or abusive opponents.

The mouseslip happens in Live Chess, and you can't avoid them really. ICC does have takebacks though, but they're rarely accepted except in friendly games.

The thing is a mouse slip and a blunder looks the same to your opponent. If i was concerned about being able to take make premoves i just wouldn't do any premoves.

There's no pre-moves on phones either...

not the same thing, but somewhat related:

i seem to remember in live chess moving a 7th rank pawn to promote, then realizing i needed to make another move first, but being unable to cancel the promotion after the white box (Q/R/B/N selection) appeared.

i may be mistaken but i don't have such a convenient game in front of me at the moment to test this.

does right-click get you out of that too?

Omg premove has screwed me over so many times

Remellion

Select one of the promotion options first, then right-click to cancel the whole pawn move.

not as a pre-move, but as a (two-part) regular move, hence "not the same thing, but somewhat related..."

sorry, i should have been clearer.

Remellion

Ah... then that would be the one time where "touch-move" is enforced? :-P Sorry, don't know how to cancel that either.
