Every Christmas Movie I Watched This Year
I love saying "overall" 🤣

Every Christmas Movie I Watched This Year

Christmas is a time of cheer, being together, and most of all, celebrating the birth of our Savior... oh, and watching billions of Christmas movies, of course. 🤣

I would say I branched out quite well this year, skipping some movies I've seen thousands of times, and watching a few new ones. So, in today's blog, I will be quickly reviewing every X-Mas film I re-watched and watched for the first time this 2025 season. So, enjoy!

TABLE OF CONTENTS:
INTRODUCTION | EVERY X-MAS MOVIE I WATCHED IN 2025 | CONCLUSIONCREDITS

RED ONE (RE-WATCHED)

A bit darker than I remembered from last year, but still fun.

THE STAR (RE-WATCHED)

I was really only half paying attention while this movie is playing, but I like this one; I just wasn’t really in the mood when my family turned it on. 🤣🤣🤣

GENIE (RE-WATCHED)

Such an amazing, underrated Christmas movie. Loved it last year, loved it this year. 💪

8-BIT CHRISTMAS (FIRST TIME WATCH)

I know everyone likes a happy ending, but I just really wasn't expecting a story like this to have a lesson in the end. Honestly, I thought the movie would end with him getting the Nintendo, but no... it didn't even show that. 🤣

Anyways, now that I know what to expect, next year I'll probably like this one a bit more. The overall movie was surprisingly okay, there were just a few things in there I found unnecessary.

A VERY JONAS CHRISTMAS MOVIE (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Meh... it started off kind of promising with Will Ferrell, but there was a lot of very unnecessary language and suggestive content that just made me kind of annoyed tbh. (The ending was great tho)

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Didn't finish it and I really don't need to. It's pretty obvious what's going to happen in the end. 🤣

ELF (RE-WATCHED)

Watch this one every year while decorating my Christmas tree. Never gets old. (Although... maybe every year I pay less and less attention... 🤣)

THE FAMILY PLAN 2 (FIRST TIME WATCH)

I know he's only like 6 or 7 years old, but... I mean... they could have for sure found a better 6 or 7-year-old to play Max. 🤣

But besides that, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by this sequel. I had my doubts that it would be any good based on the fact that almost every single review I saw on it was "I hated it", "it's a lifeless sequel", "terrible Christmas movie", but I thought that it actually delivered. Honestly might even have been a tiny bit better than the first...

A CHRISTMAS STORY (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Watched the first 2 minutes then was told that it might not be the best choice; maybe next year? (I started watching it cuz it's an X-Mas classic that I've never seen before, but it must be pretty mature, so...)

THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES (RE-WATCHED)

Just as I remember it being from past years: fun, kind of cheesy, and pretty strange at times. 💩💩💩

HOME ALONE (RE-WATCHED)

Probably like... the most legendary Christmas movie ever.

I'm so mad he never got to eat his highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese tho. 🤣

CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS (RE-WATCHED)

A bit... odd at times, but overall a fun X-Mas flick.

SPIRITED (RE-WATCHED)

Just started reading Dicken's A Christmas Carol for the very first time a couple weeks ago, so I thought it might be fun to watch this one again. I honestly completely forgot how connected it is with the Scrooge story. 🤣

Anyways, it's a little mature at like 1 or 2 parts, and I definitely could have done without the like 20 billion different songs, but... overall I thought it was a very interesting addition to the classic narrative.

One specific thing I really enjoyed was that they really do a good job of making the "unredeemable" factor noticed; like... Ryan Reynolds is just the worst in general, so it was very believable that the task of redeeming this guy would be near impossible.

Idk. That just kinda stuck out for me. I definitely did not just say that so I could say that Ryan Reynolds is probably the worst actor in the world because every single character he plays is the same, mean old idiot.

Whoops. There you go. 🤣

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID CHRISTMAS: CABIN FEVER (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Meh. It was definitely a bit better than the first 2, (Probably because we've never gotten a Cabin Fever adaptation before and all the other ones are reboots of the live-action ones) but it's still not great. (I still can't believe that Greg was actually like... *Gag* NICE at the end... lol 🤣)

NOELLE (RE-WATCHED)

Overall a very entertaining and fun watch, BUT, I will say, Gabe was annoying, the yoga thing was kind of weird, and the whole "kicking a policeman" event was very stupid and unneeded in my opinion. 😁🤣

HOME SWEET HOME ALONE (RE-WATCHED)

I thought I remembered liking this movie in past years just because it’s literally like the stupidest thing ever created, but then this year I realized how stupid it really, really was so I stopped watching it after like 10 minutes. 🤣🤣🤣

JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM (RE-WATCHED)

They definitely took a lot of creative liberties, (And made it very over the top dramatic at times 🤣) but I thought overall that this whole thing was a very interesting and fun way of telling the Christmas story. Plus, I learned some new things I never knew about the Christmas story the first time I watched it, so... that's kinda 🔥.

HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK (RE-WATCHED)

Marv was getting absolutely KILLED in this one. 🤣 (The traps were a LOT worse this time 😅)

I remember thinking last year when I watched this that the bird lady side-plot was not in any way necessary since we already got the old man neighbor guy in the first one so I just skipped that whole thing this time around and I could honestly still follow the plot fine. 🤣

So, yes, it was a little long and there were a few things (Like I said) that I found kinda dumb/unneeded, but overall I thought it was actually a lot better than I remembered from past years in a lot of ways. Surprisingly good sequel!

MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS (RE-WATCHED)

Not particularly a Christmas movie, but it's a winter movie... and I'll take it.

Great film, but it's official: I've for sure seen it way too many times.

I know it was important to the plot, but I thought the whole thing with Captain's egg was pretty boring and I couldn't follow how it wasn't in any way weird to anyone that the mom went on a date with her new boyfriend and then just a couple hours later went on a date with her ex. 🤣

Don't know how Rick would feel about this... 😅😅😅

*Crickets Crickets*

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LAST STRAW (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Dude... I didn't even finish it. I was a little excited at first, but it turned out really corny and dumb JUST like every other animated film in this franchise. I powered through the other 3, but I don't think I can ever do that again, honestly. (Even for The Getaway, which is one of the best books in the series; I just don't want to watch them ruin it) Jeff, just put it to bed already. 🙄

KLAUS (RE-WATCHED)

My guess is that JK Simmons really likes playing Santa Claus, but… I don’t know for sure. 🤷🤣

Some Christmas movies that I don’t particularly enjoy the first time around I re-watch every year thinking that it might be better… for example, The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two; I didn’t watch that this year because I learned my lesson from past years that re-watching it over and over and over just doesn't make me like the movie more; in fact, it just makes it worse.

This is one of those types of movies.

I only got about 25 or 30 minutes into this one this year bc I realized that it just might never be better no matter how many times I choose to re-watch it.

This movie is so strange, a bit dark, and ends on the most unsatisfying and depressing note of all time. It’s a bit of a clever-sounding story line I suppose, I just didn’t really think they did the greatest job of bringing it to life.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL 2009 (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Finished the novel, so I watched the movie, and all I have to say is... THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST TERRIFYING THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN, HOW IN THE WORLD IS IT NOT PG-13. 🤣

Hated the Polar Express type animation and to be honest, at the end when Scrooge has his whole change of heart, I honestly thought he was acting more insane than loveable and kind. 😅 (Like this is literally his freaking face when telling Bob he's going to give him a raise 👇😭🤣)

Bob looks terrified bro why in the world did they animate it like this 💀💀💀

Anyways, so yes... I think they could have done WAY better in making it more family friendly and animating it in a different way. (There are like 50 other versions, so maybe I'll check a couple of those out next year 😅)

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS 2000 (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Oh, lookie there. Two movies in a row with Jim Carrey playing a Christmas hater that gets transformed in the end. 🤣 (Bruh 😅)

This was actually my first time seeing this movie, believe it or not, and guess what I have to say about it? It kinda... stunk. Hear me out. 🤣

I know you have to somehow add to the plot to adapt a kids picture book into an hour and 45 minute long film, but this is just unacceptable. I mean, I know Illumination’s Grinch added some things in too like Cindy Lou trying to trap Santa, the whole reindeer side plot, but at least they stayed MOSTLY to the original story. This film‘s entire “rising action” if you will, was completely pointless to me. I’m being so serious, it wasn’t until an HOUR into this thing when PAGE 6 of the book was being told. (Don’t believe me? Seriously, go look)

Also, this whole movie was just freaky. The baby grinch, his facial expressions, the girl that’s in love with him… they tried to be funny, but it didn't work on me. I think I’m gonna stick with the 50 other adaptions, thank you very much.

NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Just mindless madness... RIGHT UP MY ALLEY! 🤣 (Really hope to watch it again next year because I think I missed a few parts this time around lol)

Best part by far was when the aunt started saying the pledge of allegiance for "the blessing". 😅

THE GRINCH 2018 (RE-WATCHED)

I actually started re-watching this movie before I watched the Jim Carrey one but I decided to restart it so I could compare the two but now that I did that, I seriously don't know how to compare them. They're both so different and both add their own things to the story, so I'm just at a loss for words. (Maybe next year I'll be able to pull my thoughts together lol)

Also, I'm not saying he did anything specifically awesome in this movie, but Pharrell Williams kinda carries Illumination sometimes. 🤣

THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL (RE-WATCHED)

2 words: legend, dairy. 🤣 (GET OUT-)

UNACOMPANIED MINORS (RE-WATCHED)

I wonder how many people even know this movie exists... 🤣

Incredibly underrated, but I could do without the bajillion different side-plots lol; overall an honestly pretty solid X-Mas film.

THE SANTA CLAUSE (RE-WATCHED)

I was debating whether or not I wanted to watch this one this year since I've seen it so many times, but I just went with it and it turns out nothing has changed; it's still the same old fun, family film. 😁 (Fun fact I actually used to think the name Santa Claus was literally spelled Santa Clause after seeing this movie and didn't realize I was wrong until I was like 11 years old 😭🤣)

CURIOUS GEORGE: A VERY MONKEY CHRISTMAS (RE-WATCHED)

The "Ghost of Christmas Time Gone Sideways" or whatever the freak it is was really dumb to me, (lol 🤣) but I watch this one every year and it never gets old. This movie is a classic in our home and, guys, can we take a moment to recognize how much of a chill guy The Man With The Yellow Hat is? 💩😅 (*Crickets Crickets*)

ENCANTO (RE-WATCHED)

It's not my fault Disney released this on Disney+ literally on CHRISTMAS EVE 4 years ago. 🤣

I'm being so fr, ever since that day in 2021, I've watched this masterpiece every Christmas morning and it never gets old. Everything about it is so clever and original, I just... can't...

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER (RE-WATCHED)

Basically what I said about this film in my "Best Movie Of 2024" blog (CLICK HERE) still applies this year: I thought it was a billion times better than the original 1983 one and even though it was being directed by the director of the Chosen, (Which is not a show known for being very funny 🤣) this movie was almost entirely just straight up fun and comedic while still telling a great story and keeping it serious when it needed to be that way.

Yup, this movie is still “pretty near perfect”. 💩😅

ORDINARY ANGELS (FIRST TIME WATCH)

Another one that's more like a winter movie than a Christmas movie, but... this was my first time watching it and Jon Gunn cooked once again.

Just like almost all his other movies, it was very stressful at times but it was also very touching and entertaining too. (It did kinda feel like... 5 hours long tho 🤣)

JINGLE ALL THE WAY (RE-WATCHED)

I remembered hating it last year when I watched it for the first time but I also remembered that I never finished it... so, I started it again this year, and GUESS WHAT?!?

It was terrible. I didn't finish it for a second year in a row. 🤣

HAWKEYE TV (RE-WATCHED)

Still SO goated. All I will say.

And that about does it! Thank you all for a great year! Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night. 😉 (I'm so corny 😭😅)

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
