241+ More than a number, a feeling
The Global Citizens Club(241) is more than a chess club; it's a constantly evolving community. Our short name, 241, or nickname, was born from the chess.com Passport and over time became part of an identity, a special connection between its members and the rest of the chess.com community. This year, chess.com updated the Passport; 241 isn't just a number, it's a feeling.
In reality, we don't care how many more passports are added to chess.com; for us, we'll always be 241, with the essence that unites us. The numbering may change, the 241 community evolves. So, welcome to 241+3… and to all the +Xs (241+X) to come in the future. We're still 241!
Regardless, we are going to point out three things, the first is that Global Citizens Club has evolved more,
● Passport and Books(33) Challenges✔ ● Open Tournaments✔
● 4 Weekly Live Events✔ ● Daily Matches and Chessvotes✔
● Monthly Variants Series✔ ● Monthly Club King✔
● Live Multiclubs✔ ● Live Matches (Club)✔
● Trophies, Medals, Badges and Member Recognitions✔
● Club's Chess Variant✔ ● Club's Mascot✔ ● Club's Song✔
● Diversity - Members from 241 countries and regions✔
● Special celebrations✔ ● Season Times, Rest and PreSeason✔
So, 241 was already 241+
The second, the new "Olympic" passports and "Paralympic", like "International", does not correspond to any country or region in the world. Their assignment is highly questionable, as is the credibility of these users who have these passports in their profiles, who appear to be chess.com bots rather than real profiles, just as is the case with millions of users in this community.
Third, the regulation of Full Passport recognition in our club will continue to be awarded to those with at least 241 passports or flags or 241+.
Finally, on the heels of a successful 2025 Preseason, we have incorporated another great challenge: Books (33), a tour of 33 fundamental openings and defenses, to aid in our training.
To be sensible, I would have preferred that they added more openings and defenses in the Books(33) instead of adding new passports that do not respond to any country or region of the world, which even violates the Normality of the Member database, and should have been added to another field like "Player Type" and not their "Nationality".
