Alireza Firouzja and Parham Maghsoodloo are two of the greatest chess prodigies on the planet, and as it happens, they both hail from Iran. Today's video features two exciting struggles between these talents from the Iranian Championship.

First, we see Firouzja attacking in 2018 as he plays a thrilling knight sacrifice that creates near zugzwang in the middle game, then Maghsoodloo turns the tables with an ingenious queen sacrifice and swindle.

Then we see a game from many years earlier in 2015 as Maghsoodloo is nearly ready to cash in on endgame when Firouzja digs up one of the greatest stalemate swindles you will ever see!

Lessons:

  • It ain't over till it's over.
  • Some sacrifices defy calculation and are about long-term domination.

Here are both game fragments with brief annotations.
