Everybody loves watching Magnus Carlsen and Anish Giri going back and forth on Twitter. It's high drama! For many celebrities (including chess professionals), Twitter is their personal social media of choice, an outlet where they can share quick thoughts, photos, public statements, and trash talk.

Who are the biggest chess celebrities on Twitter? This bar chart showcases the top chess Twitter accounts since 2010 and chronicles many highlights as seen by Twitter.

I used data from the Wayback Machine and socialblade.com to build this, but the data is incomplete. Data values are interpolated where data is missing so some rapid rises may be smoothed out, and some channels may jump into the lists. Some channel names have changed over time.

There is also no comprehensive list of chess channels to draw on; I was as comprehensive as I could be based on my knowledge
