Have you ever wondered  if there really was any way black could crush the Italian Game?Well student, now i will teach you how!

This secret variation of the Italian is filled with traps, tactics, crushing attacks for black and completely winning positions after 10 moves,And as for this openings name?it is known as The Rousseau Gambit!

1.

The Italian starts with 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc5.

But the you play the surprising move 3...f5!!,this is the start of the powerful Rousseau Gambit,
your opponent has five decisions hear, three lose, one is a fine move but still dangerous for white and one keeps them in the game for a while.
Now lets see there first option 4.exf5 which looks natural but is a mistake as you can play 4...e4
and 5.Ng1 is the only safe square for the knight! then you play 5...Nf6 they may play 6.d3 d5 and you win your pawn back and have more center space and a winning position.
You may have notice that your opponent could have played 5.Qe2 ,pinning our pawn to there king and you would be right here we play 5...Qe7 6.Ng1 Nf6 and here there are to traps your opponent can fall for.
One is 7.d6?? here we play 7...Nd4! attempting to fork the king and rook our opponent plays ether Qd2 or d1 it doesn't matter then we play 8...NXC2!! 9.Qxc2 and Exd3+!   and your opponent resigns cause of our queen on e7 we have a discovered check and an attack on the queen.
The other blunder is 7.Nc3?? then 7...Nd4 8.Qd1 then you sac your pawn with 8...d5!! 9.Nxd5 Nxd5 10.Bxd5 Bxf5 now white has several ways they can lose immediately.

If 11.Ne2 then 11.Bg4 and white is lost as there are just to many threats you have hear.
and then there is 11.c3 then you will sac your knight with 11...Nf3!! 12.gxf3 exf3= cause of the e7 queen if 13.Kf1 Bd3+ and it will be mate very soon
now if your opponent saw this and plays Ne2 cause he is already up a night you sac the bishop with Bc2!! and you deflect the queen 14.Qxf2 Qxe2#

2.
another option for white is 4.Nc3 but then 4...Fxe4 5.Nxe4 and 5...d5 and you win a minor piece

3.
If 4.Bxg8 Rxg8 5.exf5 e4 6.Ng1 d5 and now if your opponent plays 7.Qh5+ you play 7...g7 8.fxg6 Rxg6 9.Qxh7 Qg5 and you are attacking the g2 pawn so 10.g3 and 10...Rh6 and it turns out the queen is trapped the only move is 12.Qxc7 but 12...Bd6 traps the queen.

4.
Another move is 4.d3 then you play 4...Bc5  now  white thinks they can fry liver you  5.Ng5 f3!! 6.Nf7 then you surprise them with 6...Qh4! 7.O-O Nf6 8.Nxh8 Ng4 they play 9.h3 to stop the checkmate threat 9...Nxf2! 10.Rxf2 Qxf2 11.Kh1 f3!! 12.gxf3 d5!! 13.Bxd5 Bxh3 and there is no way white can stop check mate.

5.
And the last move and stock fishes favorite is 4.d4 exd4
if white plays 5.exf5 then d5 and you are winning.
If 5.Nxd4 then 5...Nf6 6.Nxf5 d5 7.exd5 Bxf5 8.dxc6 Qxd1+ 9.Kxd1 O-O-O+ 10.Bd2 and it is an equal position and you have a lot of attacking chances.

I hope you liked this deep dive into the Rousseau Gambit
