The final game of the FIDE World Chess Championship 2023 between Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi ended in a draw, resulting in a tiebreaker. Ding played solidly with the Nimzo-Indian Defense, but Nepomniachtchi's active play in the center gave him a small advantage. Ding made a mistake by playing Ng5, which allowed Nepomniachtchi to equalize the position. The game ended with both players trading queens, and Ding sacrificing a pawn to simplify the position. Despite pressure from Nepomniachtchi, Ding held on for the draw, leading to a tiebreaker.
