An epaulette checkmate can be very beautiful to look at. Today I found out by coincidence that GM Magnus Carlsen produced a nice epaulette checkmate more than once in GM games (Two quite rare side-ways epaulette checkmates in fact!).

Then I started to search for epaulette checkmates with a search engine and found a few websites with chess games featuring that beautiful checkmate pattern.
I came across this game by Magnus Carlsen :
And then I suddenly remembered the famous epaulette checkmate from the game Carlsen-Ernst. See here :
