Grabbing "The Initiative"

The initiative in chess is worth at least a pawn. That is what you can read in chess books.

In this game white plays a somewhat unsound opening line after which black can easily equalize. After that white gives black the opportunity to grab the initiative.

After getting the initiative it is often important to keep things going, unless you can for example simplify into a simply winning rook or pawn ending.
