Picked up some previously enjoyed books today from the rather limited selection at our 2 used book stores. Four were collections of games (Alekhine, Reshevsky, Fischer, Karpov - the latter three in hardcover), and the other is a piece of fluff titled "Birth of the Chess Queen". I had a quick skim through the first few pages of "Birth" and it appears to be as accurate as the long-range weather forecast. Apparently, 12th century Europeans had never heard of elephants, despite Hannibal's adventure across the Alps a couple of millenia earlier.
I would likely have invested in more books, but I can't force myself to buy anything by Fred Reinfeld. Anyone else feel that way?
