Stalemate tricks at Penang Open
Last month I played in an open at Penang, Malaysia. It was a nice tournament, very well organized and relatively strong competition. I am probably going to write about it in more details later, but right now I just want to share two stalemate tricks that I saw in this tournament.
The first of them almost happened in my own game from Round 4:
In the other example from this tournament the stalemate defense actually worked and what an amazing trick it was! It took place in the last round of the Challenger section. I saw the game just before the closing ceremony when the player who fell for this astonishing trap was showing the game to his colleagues from Philippines.
Remember - it's not over until it's over!
