Dear admins and players,

We are starting the 2022 season of the Pan American League of Standard Daily Chess, competition open to all ratings.

There are 18 teams, distributed in 3 divisions of 6 teams.

In division A are the 5 best teams from the previous season (Argentina, United States of America, Canada, Bolivia and Brazil), plus Paraguay, which was considered the champion of division B.

In division B is Mexico (team relegated from division A), as well as Uruguay, Nicaragua and Venezuela (teams that were already in the previous season), in addition to this division the teams of Peru and Puerto Rico (which did not participate in the edition previous year and were the first to show interest in participating).

In division C are Guatemala (last team to register) and teams from Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic (who have not confirmed participation, but as they participate in the World League, we include them in our competition in the hope that they will return to participate regularly in the Pan American League).

Pairings:

The pairing followed the criterion of confronting the teams in the first round according to the order of classification or entry, so that Argentina and the United States of America open the competition, champion and runner-up, which will give them more time to end the matches and make the fairer result when the competition closes on 12/31/2022. From the second to the fourth round there was a draw and the fifth round is the reflection of the remaining clashes to complete the table. Divisions B and C followed the same order as Division A.

Promotion and Relegation:

Initially it is planned that the team that finishes last in its division will be relegated and the team that finishes as champion in its division will be promoted, however, the organization reserves the right to relegate more teams in case there are teams that fail present the minimum number of players in their respective division, as well as more teams can be promoted in case there is a possibility that we organize division A with 8 teams in the 2023 season.

Match setup:

Some reminders:

1. Make sure you configure the challenge to start at 9:00 am Los Angeles time zone, for that, the time can be consulted at this address: https://time.is/pt_br/Los_Angeles

As the Los Angeles time zone will change to summer time on March 13 and applications for the first round will close on March 15, UTC-7 time should be adopted.

Therefore, the team from Brazil must send the challenges with the start time for 13:00 in Brasilia, the team from Argentina must send the challenges to 13:00 in Buenos Aires, the team from Canada must send the challenges to 12:00 in Ottawa, the team from Bolivia must send the challenges to 12:00 from La Paz, the team from Paraguay must send the challenges to 13:00 from Asunción in this first round and to 12:00 from Asunción from the second round, these are just a few examples.

2. Only players who exceed the 25% time loss limit or who are indicated as a player from another team (multiplayer) can be removed from matches, if we see that players are being removed for other reasons, penalties can be applied for the offending team.

3. Scores can be checked on the website: https://chessteams.info/

The Pan American League competitions can be consulted by choosing the following options:

4. For standardization purposes, we will follow most of the rules applied by the World League, with omissions or special cases being discussed by the Pan American League Council.

Match Name - PANAM2022 R1: your team vs opposing team

(Example, PANAM2022 R1: Team Brazil vs Ajedrez Paraguay)

- If there is the same match for the World League, the World League match can be used for the Pan American League dispute, for that it is necessary to use the following nomenclature:

WL2022 R3: Team Venezuela vs Uruguay, also PANAM2022 R2

Game Type - Standard Chess

Days per move - 3 days

Minimum matches - 10

Minimum players per club - 25 in Div A, 10 in Div B and 5 in Div C

Simultaneous games per player - 2

Start Date - March 15, 2022

Start Time - 9:00 am Los Angeles time (Pacific Time)

The option for the games to be classified must be checked, that is, for there to be a rating movement.

Submit and accept the challenge without delay, but before accepting it, remember to verify that the challenge has been correctly set up, if not, cancel the challenge, contact the admin of the other team and then submit a new challenge with the correct parameters.

Most of the instructions reported above are for club administrators, players only need to worry about signing up and playing matches according to fair play rules.

Players are paired in order of rating, with the best player of each team facing each other on board #1 and those on the last boards facing the lowest-rated players.

If a team enters more players than the opposing team, the lower rated surplus players will be automatically removed by the Chess.com system.

If a team fails to reach the minimum number of entries by the deadline for entries, the opposing team will be declared the winner of the match and the match must be cancelled.

If both teams fail to reach the minimum number of entries by the deadline for entries, neither team will take the victory, and the result will be 0-0.

Remembering that the same player can only defend a single team throughout the season, that is, if the player chooses to play for Brazil, he must play for Brazil in Div A, in the U1600 competition and in the 960 chess competition.

If, for example, the same player participates in a match for Brazil in Div A, for Mexico in Div B, for Guatemala in Div C, for Bolivia in U1600 and for Argentina in 960, this player will cause the adjustment of points in all matches in which he participated, causing the score to be reverted to the opponent.

It should also be noted that closed accounts, whether due to cheating, abuse or the player's own will, will be subject to adjustment, so the score will be reverted to the opponent.

The text ended up getting long, but the goal was to bring as much information as possible.

Good luck and good games to all.
