Thoughts and ideas for Live matches

1. Live matches to be created more than 1 week in advance

When we plan live matches in Leagues  we would like to be able to do it for Large schedule 1 month or 1 year.

This will reduce workload on admins, like it is happen in daily matches. 

No need to be there all the time to keep track of matches. 

Agreement about matches for long time would reduce negotiations between teams and smooth workflow for the whole league matches.

2. Live match cancellation issues

We are playing in LCWL league on regular basis. But today we got issues.

We would like to know who cancelled matches?

Both of them was cancelled.

My suggestion is to disable cancellation option after match is accepted, especially if it is created in advance.

3. Live match participation lists –

When we play live matches there is case when big team(100+ players) play against small team(5+ players). 

Match happen on 5 boards. Big team players sad.

For example League has rule for min number of boards 10+. 

The problem is to fix that big team have 10+ players and small team lose by forfeit. 

Currently Screenshots are used - but they can be fake, they are difficult to catch more than 20 boards on one screen. 10 screenshot for 1 match is way difficult to. 

Again it requires admins to be there to fix number of players.

Technical way of showing number of registered players from both teams in history would be a great solution for judgment. It will also show the real strengths of Live teams. 

For example, Team Kazakhstan vs Team Russia

Score:          100 - 100

number of participant: 200 - 350

4. Live match score Global rank and Total score for teams -

We have score among all teams on chess.com based on Daily matches.

On the right panel  for Team Kazakhstan for example it is #80 of 42653 (99.8%)

How about adding another score for Live matches?

And then Total score of Daily+Live scores.

5. Live chess leaderboard -

 I support that idea of having stats for match players in live matches

6. Live teams arena -

Idea is:

When  players of teams play against each other in a random(chosen by system nearest pairs)  and gets points.

For example:

Team A player play against Team B, then Team Z, again Team B etc.

Team A player do not play against teammates from Team A.

At the end of arena team score calculated and results shown up. 

Would be a great and fun team challenge.

7. Live matches for international teams with big time zone difference -

I just want to bring this into attention.

When teams play live they need to be on board at same time. If one team have day time another one have night time. 

1)Might  be some tools for that teams, or ideas of organizing Leagues among them?

I have fir example some "fair average time calculator" that take time zone in both teams and returns average possible time to play. Because it is sometimes very difficult to set up equal time, opponent team just do not want to see other team's condition and view. 

 2) to schedule matches for long schedule - where teams plays 2 matches for compensation.

8. Live match and tournaments time control -

In the Live match creation tool if we will have some kind of favorite time controls list. For example we play 5+2 time control in the league and every time have to do it manually. 

It will be saving time for us if they will be added to standard time controls list and we will just choose them from there( for each team their favorites will be shown) 

For example if we use a lot if time 5+2 then it is added to drop down list and easier to choose next time.

9. Place "Cancel" button far from "Share link" button and show match start time with date instead of timer. 

9. 14jan2024 For admins of large clubs is difficult to manage thousands users , if there will be settings in club to automaticall remove inactive players who is not online for 3 month(or specific date for example) that will reduce our workload with offline inactive garbage accounts. 

10. 14jan2024  There was a menu for Live match registered players(I am not talking about page where match is played)  now it is missing. I can not find way to know how many players registreed for match in 1 hour before live match starting. On live page where I play live match against other teams no option to see the full login names and it have not ordered numbers.
