2023. What an amazing year for chess.com. As 2023 s chess clock ticks and gets shorter against 2024 s lets take a moment and recap what happened.

2023 world chess championship

We had a crazy world chess championship and in the finals we had no mangus, no hikaru, no fabiano, no noderbiek, it was Ding Liren vs Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding liren won 9 1/2 to 8 1/2.

Top Tournament performance

The top tournament performance goes to none other than hans niemann. No comment.

Chess bots

Chess.com bots are designed to play like human opponents( wellsome of them), simulating various playing styles and skill levels. They provide a challenging and competitive experience for Chess.com users who want to practice or play against computer opponents.

Chess.com bots are available at different difficulty levels, ranging from beginner to expert. They allow players to test their skills, learn new strategies, or simply enjoy a game of chess at their desired level. Bots provide a convenient way for players to play chess anytime, as they are available 24/7 and do not require finding a human opponent.

Chess.com bots are generally sophisticated and can handle different time controls, openings, and game phases. Some bots may also incorporate artificial intelligence techniques to improve their playing strength. Overall, Chess.com bots enhance the playing experience for users, offering a diverse range of opponents to practice and compete against. Some of the most popular bots were, martin and mittens. Martin a 250 elo bot. Martin learned chess so that he could play with his young kids. He still wins against them most of the time. See how you stack up. Mittens, a bot that came out in January and was supposedly a 1 elo bot but it wasn't that accurate. Mittens likes chess…but how good is she? Mittens would be challenged over 3.5 billion times this year.

Wait a second. This isn't a bot. oh wait it is

Chess collaborations

Chess.com would collaborate with other apps like clash of clans and duolingo- wait stop, I did my korean lesson stoppppp!

I think I got to get out of here.

Anyway at least we got a new game mode spell chess for the collaboration with clash of clans and what did duolingo give us. Flaris? "I said do your korean lesson, if you don't, Go check your family's house."  Okay okay, I'm sorry, jeez what a creep.  "HEY! DO YOUR KOREAN LESSON NOW!" Okay okay I will stop please. How did I make that out alive? That bird is dangerous.

Chess traffic

Chess.com players would play 12.5 BILLION games in 2023 and their busiest day would be February 17 2023 with 69 million games in one day. Thats alot of chess and some good servers.

Most games played

The most games played by one person if you can even believe that is @bleuletalonoir with 177,000 games played. Which is insane because he started in 2021. 2 years ago! That like 300 games a day.
