Pattern Recognition Part 2
In each blog I will present what is hopefully an important pattern in chess. The answers, variations or possibilities will be given in the next blog, along with another position.
In my last article http://blog.chess.com/vaiuuii/pattern-recognition-1 we had a famous endgame position where the main theme was the weakness of the back rank and how to exploit it. Here is the position again, this time with the explanations:

This is more tricky then it would first appear and two moves may not be enough for a simple win as it looks at a superficial glance. Try to calculate without moving the pieces and then try to come up with a plan. Variations will be given tomorrow in Part 3.
