Prophylaxis: Taking it a step ahead

Today, you will be reading a short blog on prophylaxis. Prophylaxis is basically a move that stops the opponent from taking action in an area for fear of some reprisal.

Prophylaxis leads to a very postional game, which frustrates players with strong tactical orientation. Tal and Kasparov frequently played h3 in the Ruy Lopez to stop a pin on the f3 knight by the bishop with Bg4.All GMs make use of prophylaxis in 1 way or another.
3 famous practitioners are:
Aron Nimzowitsch
Tigran Petrosian(do you remember his safety first philosophy from a Chess Mentor lesson?)
 and Anatoly Karpov
