And as mentioned, it would likely cause confusion, when something could be posted that isn't available to everyone. Maybe the site could use some AI to generate something that could be spot checked to make sure nothing private was posted and less clear updates wouldn't get posted (or non-user facing ones). Still would take staff time/effort that would likely be better spent on other things
@Spacebux, there are some change logs created for the apps. For the other things, there certainly are logs of changes, in places, but there are a lot of updates, and parsing them for user facing updates, and categorizing them in a understandable way, that would be of use to regular members, would be time consuming. As mentioned, not all changes go live to all members at the same time, and some things may never go live to everyone, so by necessity, it wouldn't be complete
Have just found am unable to delete messages - on trying to delete one which was there yesterday, and a new one today, received a red label "resource not found", but the messages will not disappear
@Spacebux is making the same point I have been making for a very long time. Almost every week the "developers" add a new wrinkle, and even experienced users (who come on here to play chess and organise it for others) have to spend precious time diverted to learning what they have done and how usual practice has been compromised. That is without the bugs being caused by new tech in a ripple effect
I'm sure the Dev Team has a 'change log', internally. Just task SOMEONE with the job of bullet-pointing those changes as they are committed (preferably before committing, but given this site's history, I have many doubts about that) -- to a public log forum / menu-place.
@Martin_Stahl -- the new graphic, the overlap of point history, ... its a mess. Again, presenting the Chess.com Users with a consistent, documented update page / forum is NOT HARD TO DO.
Something like that is probably not extremely useful for most people, could be confusing, and likely would take a lot of care and feeding to keep up to date
Regarding some kind of update log, there's things being updated all the time. Some minor, some major, some that is released partially , and sine that hits different clients at different times.
Feedback: PLEASE begin publishing ALL new modifications to a singe repository.. E.g., Chess.com (♟) --> About || Releases --> Current Version || Latest Modification --> Explanation of latest changes. Keep it simple, like this: https://rephial.org/release
