I didn't really mean stone him..."some of you" need to get a sense of humour! Btw, I'd just like to thank zaler1k for actually getting some chat going. Nice one, m8! :)
If they don't like you being a member of group that is only about debating the subject and not trying to explicitly convert people one way or the other, to me that just screams insecurity about their beliefs. I respect the Christians that have given serious thought to their positions are actively seeking justifications for what they are told by their religious leaders.
It's only close to interesting for us since there are so many people who share a belief in some sort of deity, and that odd hangover from more superstitious times affects public policy and suchlike in some places.
"The Atheists" is where most people are at, though, in terms of groups on here. We're quite active over there. You'll notice that most chitter is not pressingly about the lack of gods, because, well, there's not a lot to discuss in that regard. It's a non-subject. Think of how much time you spend in your life discussing the non-existence of elves, for instance.
It doesn't seem to be the most active group! What are your motivations, though? I wouldn't trouble myself to join a group called "The Christians". If you want to learn about atheism, there's really not a lot to learn. We reject the idea of your god as silly just the same as you (presumably) reject the idea of everyone else's gods as silly.
Speaking from having been on the other side, they really do think the mere mention of god might be a catalyst. They see their own position: "If someone told ME about god, I'd consider and embrace it!". OF course they would. They already do. It's just another piece of circular reasoning.
It may be an attempt to troll but betrays a naivity about trolls. Advertising your psychological weaknesses online is never a good idea. And what bigger weakness could there be than to have a desperate need to believe absurd things.
