There are a lot of videos about opening on youtube, but which one do you consider best?

Hi all came across this idea which is a blacks Czech Defence as white but in some databases its called the Old Indian Attack under the Reti system. Anyone used this method of opening instead of the c4 push? could it be a viable system as a surprise weapon?

I went to the chess-store today. Got three books on the Reti opening! I'll start with the book "starting out: the Reti". I'm looking forward to gain knowledge about this opening, and to test it in games!

When do you play black what do you reply to Nf3? Do you stick also as black to Reti line with c4?

Do you know of any good movies on the Reti opening? I got a book, Dunnington's easy guide to the Réti opening, and it is a good book, but an instructive movie would also be good. I haven't found any good movies on the Reti myself, makes me think that this opening is a bit neglected by the community.

Dear All, Could you share your personal preferences (and perhaps the groups consensus) on how to approach English/Symmetrical English lines that arise from our Nf3_c4 Reti? It seems to me that it's hard for white to prove much of an edge in these types of games. It seems in higher level games an early-ish d4 is a common idea: but when and where to play the d4 break doesn't always seem very clear to me. Also, do we necessarily have to accept a English transposition for best play for white? Are there other avenues we could consider playing?

Here are some dumb mistakes I've made after recently starting to learning the Reti opening. Any other mistakes or possible traps one should be aware of?

If the members of this club want to play vote chess then please provide me with a team who will accept the following conditions: a) The opponent must have a minimum of 3 players on their team. We do not play vote chess against individuals unless they are titled or are rated higher than 2200. If they do not have 3 players by the end of the first move, we will abort the game. b) Time control = 3 days per move c) The opponent plays Black The game begins after 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 or 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4. The opponent can chose from these two if they wish. d) Having agreed to these conditions, 1 Nf3_c4 Reti will send the challenge at the time of our choosing. Please do not suggest teams to me that might be interested for me to contact. Please provide only a team that has already agreed to these conditions.

Okay... so I thought of this gambit in the Reti Opening, I'd like to know what you think about this As Black I don't play 1. d5 but I'd counter it by giving away the pawn sac
VC Analysis - Sir Vortigern --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- It is easy to see from the graph, that while we were almost always ahead in this game, it was a close one. After 37.Qe4 Black's best was 37...Qxg2+and after the exchanges Stockfish calls it dead even.
VC Analysis - Brave Sir Robin --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------- According to stockfish our first blunder was 29.Bc5?? when 29.e5 would have kept us comfortably ahead, and then 32.Rxe8?? sealed our fate.

I've played a lot of openings as black trying to find that Réti feeling, but never found something as good. Against 1.e4, I've been a Pirc player, but found that the Hyper-Accelerated Dragon suits me better and I'm happy with it. Against 1.d4, I've tried the KID (back in my KIA days), the Gruenfeld and lately the Benoni, but they never where that good to me. Any suggestions?

The First Reti April 4, 1923 ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- "The inauguration of the system was far from auspicious, as Reti lost in 36 moves. This was not, however, any fault of the opening, but rather due to a tendency on Reti's part to overpress his attack in the middlegame., where he sacrificed a piece for two pawns and then got desperately short of time." --- Harry Golombek - "Richerd Reti's Best Games" - 1954 -------------------------------------------
