Hi everyone, today I introduce a new concept: Improvement forums! These types of forums will be to discuss how to improve, puzzles, study resources, books, videos, among others. Higher rated players can also provide coaching or suggestions! This forum will be dedicated to those who are below 1000 chess.com rapid. Share your methods of improvement, techniques, openings, resources, and other chess-related material below! 

We have finally gathered enough people, so let's goo! Firstly, a few things: Rules: No inappropriate or explicit content  All profanity must either be replaced with an euphemism or censored (eg using the characters @ for a, $ for s, ! for i, etc). Damn, crap, and non profane exclamations such as OMG, jesus christ etc may be written as is. Don't harass, mock or belittle anyone else, this is not a rap battle or diss competition.  Do not plagiarize other people's works, if there is evidence of plagiarism, your song will be deleted.  Do not use AI!! Same as plagiarism, if enough people think your song is the work of AI, it will be removed (details later).  Links are not allowed. There is nasty trap in modern defense that can catch even intermediate players off-guards. This does not give a forced win or material advantage but grants you strong positional advantage that needs some precision.

As the title suggests I have a question from you if you have completed the woodpecker method training from the chess book or chessable course. I am soon going to complete woodpecker methods' all the sufficient no. multiple cycles as planned of all the puzzles from till intermediate puzzles. So my question is being someone around 1600 rapid (recently fallen from 1600 a little bit by rating but is rising back to past peak of 1600 again) on chess.com, shall I apart from also working on principles chess, endgames and positional chess also start doing advanced puzzles of the book, or just purely ignore advanced puzzles for now as start working on things I mentioned or shall I work on things I mentioned and also do advanced puzzles but at much lower priority and give those puzzles much less importance? To those who haven't read the book/took the course, these puzzles are not always move-to-win tactical puzzles, some require dynamic position understanding with calculation, some require finding defensive moves, and few are even puzzles that test you not blunder by putting a move that is tempting in a position but a blunder too so in those puzzles any normal not that tempting blunder is a solution, many also need you find moves that maintain equality. The book does not tell which puzzle is of which type so you have to understand the position yourself, though all the puzzles somehow remain to be of tactical nature.

But there are these companies that are so egregious and horrible for a variety of reasons that you can never use it (again). What are some of your top picks? Well firstly I'm still extremely bad at chess don't get me wrong, but now I know I'm still capable of these types of brilliant games xD. I managed to get a brilliant after a really long time where I just played steady games. I had a mouseslip in the opening so it wasn't looking too good for me but I managed to find a sacrifice that won me the game

For me, it is the elephant gambit. Whenever I see the elephant gambit being played, I get this feeling like I'm already going to lose. Like this feeling of dread that sweeps through every inch of my body. I'm dreading e4 that comes after exd5. So share your openings you fear playing against.

I've been seeing a lot of people playing the King's Knight, McConnell Defense recently, as well as the Nora Bot. If this opening is played against you, you are forced to play with only one winning move, kind of like the Max Lange Attack. The opening starts with 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Qf6 3. Nc3 c6. Now what people don't know, is that Qf6 and c6 are both actually MISTAKES. But white has to play perfectly in order to keep a two point advantage, with 4. d4 exd4 5. Bg5. The point of this is to develop more of your pieces with a tempo on the black queen, because after this sequence, white has 1 centre pawn, 2 knights, 1 bishop vs an awkwardly placed queen.  Best move for black is Qd6 but Qg6 is popular as well. If Qd6 you take the pawn with the knight but if Qg6 you have to take it with the queen or you lose your bishop. Here is a game that I won when my opponent tried this opening against me.  Uh yeah, I did miss a few things in this position but in the end, I managed to outplay the opponent by using my more developed pieces to attack his vulnerable king. I just want to get this out to make sure no one else falls for this opening because any other move played like Bc4 or g3 is an inaccuracy. I used to lose to this opening a lot before I used game review on a game with that opening and learned how to counter it. So just remember d4 and Bg5 and you should be able to master the opening and crush your opponent after playing it enough. Since the McConnell defense has been gaining popularity as most of my opponents are playing it, I hope this helps you to beat this otherwise tiresome opening. Thank you!!
