Hi, I joined the ChessGoals with a hope to improve my play. I am about 1600-1800 but I hope that when I overcome my weak aspects of play one day I would start to play above 2000. I was taught chess as a kid but knew almost nothing about tactics and strategy which I learned as an adult.

Hi! I'm starting out ChessGoals 12 week Study plan for intermediate players. Hope it's going to be fun. Edge-Ege

Just starting the Intermediate plan based largely on Yusupov's plan as the Adult Learner plan includes no tactics training (puzzles) except 1 day/week which I find puzzling(!) One thing that helps is I have already worked through Yusupov BUYC Book 1 and Silman's Endgame book so I will either repeat these, try some of Book 2 (hard) or other sources. Looking forward to it in preparation for a tournament. Wish me luck!

Hello Everyone, I just started on chess.com and with ChessGoals. It has been a three decades since I played in a tournament. I hope to play here and on LiChess following the ChessGoals lessons, analyzing my games to improve on mistakes, and continuing to learn to improve to get back to a level when I was younger. I have just been playing some blitz and rapid on LiChess -- but without serious study time and effort. I hope to improve while still having a bunch of fun.

well, of course my losses are not related to the training but mostly with a current psychological challenging situation. Chess became my way of not thinking to the rest, and it's frustrating loosing so many games in a row.

Hi Guys, Life sort of got in my way . . . but I am back. Looking forward to being back. Big hi to all Sharon Chess.com rating 581, studying the Beginner plan.

A few days ago I couldn't start the beginner plan, but today I'm ready to start. I am 62 years old, I want to play chess for enjoyment and as a cognitive exercise.

Been looking for some kind of plan for a while so I will see how it works for me. Right now I am on day 3. Starting Ratings are: ~2000 In all online ratings 1480 Fide classical (underrated)

I recently became obsesses with chess but that alone doesn't help my rating and I'm still at the 700 range I'm still at that point of hanging up a piece and realising it half a second *after* doing the move...wish me luck.

This should be an interesting experiment. I will replace Yusupov's book with something I already have perhaps, but Silman's book is often next to the bed. While I picked the Adult Learner plan, I do love to play many games, but they trend more blitz than rapid. My goal is to surpass 1600 in rapid, so looks like I'm doing all the extra work each day as well! Oh, as far as the Discord server. Done the Discord thing, but not a fan of rattle traps. Did that kind of thing back in the day when everything was ascii and on dial up.

Hello everyone, Since beginning the intermediate study course six weeks ago, I've improved my rapid rating by 114 points and my blitz rating by 127 points. My goal this year has simply been to improve my rating by 30-50 points each month. So far, I am on track.

I started week one of Beginner 1 today and completed the assignments for day 1. My performance in the games I've played so far is nothing to brag about. What matters is I am learning and enjoying myself, even enjoying the losses. I am looking forward to a casual game with a physical board and a human being across from me, live in person. I'd like to be able to chat a bit while playing as well. I didn't think I'd like timed games (rapid 15+10) but it resolved a conflict I have had in the back of my mind about chess for years. I suspect I didn't play because I had the perception chess games would drag on for hours. Maybe it's the attention deficit disorder or something that made me reluctant to invest in something that could stretch on for longer than a half-hour. I discovered I actually like timed games. I've played two. Now I see I can set a timer and play only for the duration I'm willing to invest at a particular time. I'm a bit challenged when it turns out I'm playing the dark side. I've spent most of the time since I decided to dig into chess looking at things from the light side. The board looks strange to me when I flip it around. I started my first daily game playing the light-colored side. I made the first move, and now my opponent has 3 days. I'm still waiting after nearly 24 hours to see the dark side make the second half of move 1. Enough for today. Thank you for stopping by to read.

I was much better at chess but lately I have lost a lot of rating. I hope to change that by starting this study plan. Current Ratings: Puzzle --> 1788 (don't have a paid account on chess.com so have to play puzzles on lichess) Daily --> 1324 Blitz --> 685 (want to raise it to 820 by end of the study plan) Rapid --> 823 (want to raise it to 1100 by t the end of the study plan)
