ANTI-FRIED LIVER LINE ( h6 ) The move order is:1. e4 e52. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 h6 This is an Anti–Fried Liver setup where Black stops Ng5 ideas before they even start. What is the idea of h6? Black plays …h6 early to take control of the g5 square. This prevents White from jumping in with Ng5, which is the starting point of the Fried Liver and many Italian tactics. Black says: “I’ll lose a tempo, but I won’t allow early attacks.” What both sides have achieved ? Black has achieved Completely stopped Ng5 Avoided sharp Fried Liver theory Created a calm, solid position White has achieved Easy development without early tactics Slight lead in development tempo HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AT WHITE The main idea in ANTI-FRIED liver for white it to immediately attack blacks centre with d4. After d4 Black has 2 response :- exd4  d6  exd4 I think this position is pretty much clear and i dont have to explain any move D4 Why Ne7 ? and not nf6 ?-Ne7 protects c6 square so if white capture the knight on c6 black can take back with the knight on e7 and this also prevents doubling of pawn on C file - 2nd most important thing is if Black play nf6 white will simply take our knight on c6 and after bxc6 white will simply play e5 forking Blacks knight and bishop ( look below ).. Why g4 ?-When white sees Black castle early , he simply g4 the main idea behind g4 is to launch and attack on the king side and castle queen side (NOTE) IF BLACK DIDN'T CASTLE EARLY WE WILL NOT PLAY g4 THAT'S HOW TO PUNISH ANTI-FRIED LIVER FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS ?!
Bird Attack ( b4 )   Bird Attack is very slightly aggressive, But it comes with a down side  Pros Cons Gains tempo by attacking Black’s bishop Risky if Black knows theory Creates open lines for attack Weakens queenside structure HOW TO REFUSE IT If black castles early after d3 This position leads to Giuoco Pianissimo Variation ( Refer PART 1 ) Continuation ( if black didn't castle ) This is a kind of structure which we will get  Some Important Moves and Their Reasons Why pawn to a5 for black ?? - Pawn to a5 stops white to further push his a4 pawn - a4 pawn push strengthen the whites queen side pawn structure Why queen c2 for white ?? - It protects your e4 pawn which can be captured by black  Why knight g5 is very very important for white ? - Ng5 generates a counter attack on black by attacking f7 pawn- If we play any another move like h3 which seems very logical black can easily swarm an attack on whites king ( look below )       NOW LET US ANALYSIS WHAT EACH SIDE GET  WHITE Pros White has a good bishop pair plus attacking initiative Good space advantage on the queenside and center Cons Weak Queen side pawn structure ( why ?? we will study below ) BLACK Pros Solid Position  Solid Pawn structure Can easily attack on whites weak queen side pawn structureby play c6 ( c6 simply challenges white b5 pawn and give black an edge in the endgame because black will have 2 pawns and white will only have 1 pawn on the queen side ) Cons Passive position ( become active by playing h6 ) Weak light square bishop Weak knights ( knights are good on g6 and h6 but they are defending not doing much ) THAT'S ALL ABOUT BIRD ATTACK AND GIUOCO PIANO FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS ?!
CENTRE ATTACK( d4 ) Early (d4) seems far more aggressive than ( d3 ) , but it leads to less advantage for white  In centre attack there are certain move orders which you MUST FOLLOW (specially for black ) One more disadvantage is that it simply leads to an endgame without any advantage for white MOVE ORDERS After bishop check on d4 we can't block it with  knight because we will simply lose a pawn on e4 ( because our knight on d2 will be pin )  But after ( Bd2 ) defends the pawn on ( e4 ) with a BEAUTIFUL TACTIC ( we will see that below ) After ( Bb4+ ) , Black has two options :- Nxe4  Bxd2  Nxe4  This variation often leads to drawish endgames with correct play. But, since we’re not GMs , I actually prefer Black because… There is an isolated pawn structure on  the d file ( which is an easy attack for black ) Black has a better pawn structure and it is much easy to play as black  ( But with little bit of thinking and practice this endgame is a draw )  Bxd2  This variation also leads to same problem i.e isolated d pawn  Position is more or less equal here The game plan for both the sides revolves around winning or defending that isolated pawn    After Nxd5 white can also play Qb3 attacking the knight on d5 twice ( which leads to force draw after Three fold repetition see the board ) . Yes black can also block the check with c6 but thats bad for black white will simply get much more activity (see the board below) As u can see white is much more better here  WHY pawn to f6 ??- After rook to e1 white is threatening to bring is rook to  attacking queen and removing the defence of the knight on a5 . So f6 just prevent that   MISTAKE  WHY Bb4+ IS FORCED ?   ( READ AND ANALYSE ALL THE LINES CAREFULLY U WILL UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING ) THAT'S ALL ABOUT CENTRE ATTACK  FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS ?!
GIUOCO PIANO ( Bc5 ) Before starting Understand that GIUOCO PIANO OPENING is all about ideas, understanding the key squares , and pawn breaks  After Bc5 it branches out as :- GIUOCO PIANO PIANISSIMO CENTRE ATTACK BIRD ATTACK In this forum we will cover GIUOCO PIANO PIANISSIMO GIUOCO PIANO PIANISSIMO In this position you need to be patient and understand your plans In this position Black has many options d6 ( main line ) , a6 , 0-0 ( castle ) ; But they all lead to same positions  Now lets understand what what each side want to achieve  FOR BLACK WHITE IS PUTTING PRESSURE ON e5 AND f7 PAWN SO ONE OF A MOVE YOU CAN PLAY d6 DEFENDING e5 PAWN FOLLOWED BY 0-0 ( CASTLE ) TO DEFEND f7 PAWN NOW THE MAIN PROBLEM IS BLACKS E5 PAWN WHITE CAN PLAY b4 - b5 AND IN SOME CASES YOUR e5 PAWN IS TAKEN ( THAT'S WHY WE WANT TO PLAY d6 ) AS BLACK IF U GET READ OF ITALIAN BISHOP ( i.e BISHOP ON C4 ) BY PLAY Na5 GIUOCO PIANO IS MUCH MORE EASIER TO PLAY  FOR WHITE WE PLAY c3 TO STRENGTHEN OUR CENTRE AND OUR d4 PAWN BREAK ( MAIN IDEA IN THIS OPENING ) d3 SEEMS A LOST OF TEMPO OR  UNNECESSARY MOVE BUT IT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE TO PROTECT e4 PAWN AND PUT OUR BISHOP ON c2 ( AVOID BISHOP KNIGHT TRADE ) AFTER d6, Bb3, Na5, Bc2  NOW WHAT OUR BISHOP WILL DO ON c2 ??? FIRST WE SAVE OUR BISHOP ( BISHOP PAIR ) BLACKS KNIGHT ON a5 IS BAD WE FURTHER STRENGTHEN OUR e4 PAWN WHICH IS A COMMONLY TARGET BY BLACK IN GIUOCO PIANO   THIS IS THE BASIC IDEA WHICH BOTH SIDES WHAT TO ACHIEVE MOVE ORDER OR CONTINUATION Again Giuoco piano is all about ideas And generally Giuoco piano involves 2 steps :-  Saving your light square bishop by playing d3  Maneuvering your pieces to a square where there can generate and attack    Now lemme try to explain some key moves and their idea behind that  why black plays a6 ??- For black his dark square bishop is the most active piece in this position so he want to protect it before d4 pawn break by putting it on a7 square  Why h3 ( white ) and h6 ( black ) ??- It prevent knights from hopping in to g5 and g4 squares for both White and Black Why we avoid light bishop trade ? - For white his light square bishop or the Italian bishop is a key piece so we try to save that - 2nd most important thing is if we do bishop trade !! Yes black will endup with double pawn structure But that pawn on e6 ( after bishop trade ) will control Key squares that is d5 and f5 ( why this is important we will know further ) Where should we develop our knight on b1 ?  - The main idea for white is to put his knight on f5 square to control some key squares and generate an attack by sacrificing bishop on h6 ( if black is not careful or if we get a chance ) - If not f5 we can also develop our knight to e3 to block Black's dark square bishop  and control d5 and f5  Where should we develop our dark square bishop ?- Generally Whites dark square bishop develop on e3 ( if knight is not there ) Why knight h4 ? - Knight h4 is often done to control f5 square twice and to put one of a knight there and as u can see black cant push g7 pawn because h6 pawn is under attack by our dark square bishop ( But there is one trick which white would be aware ) lets see that trick now    POSITIONAL MISTAKE After h5 its seems like a free pawn bt its not ( as u can the board ) white should avoid taking that Instead of that we can play Qg5 trading our Queens and continue our game with a bishop pair advantage   THAT'S ALL ABOUT GIUOCO PIANO PIANISSIMO I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT AND FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS ?!

Giuoco Piano is the most important variation in          Italian opening  This opening revolves around IDEAS, TACTICS and UNDERSTANDING POSITIONS rather than remembering forced lines Giuoco Piano branches out as follows :- Giuoco Pianissimo Centre Attack  Bird's Attack

BISHOP CHECK LINE  TRAXLER  COUNTERATTACK Bishop check line is also called Traxler counterattack It is the most unsoundest but fun at the same time deadly ( if white don't know the theory ) counter attack   ( Bc5 ) Bc5 just ignores the attack on the f7 pawn and continue development / counterattack  After Bc5 white has to options :- Bxf7 Nxf7 LETS SEE THEM ONE BY ONE ( Bxf7 ) Bxf7 is the safest way and in my pov best way to play Traxler counterattack  Bxf7 avoids all the counter changes for black White is simply up a pawn plus a safer king On the other hand Black's king is in the centre and Black giveup a pawn without any compensation   Yes white lack in development BUT black can't generate any attack from here black has to setup his pieces and move his king aside to generate an attack and by that time white can simply develop or exchange pieces and go in a winning endgame  ( Nxf7 ) Nxf7 is a bit more risky  After Bxf2+ White has 2 options :- Kxf2  Kf1 ( Kxf2 ) Kxf2 is a mistake with correct play this position leads to a Draw or Black wins DRAW IDEA After Kxf2 line u must follow all the sequence  If u try to hide your king anywhere white can easily generate an attack ( look at the board )   Whites king is wide open  Whites all pieces are away from king  Blacks rook queen and knight can easily forced a checkmate  LETS SEE A MISTAKE OR WHAT HAPPENS IF U TRY TO HIDE YOUR KING  I PUT ALL THE MISTAKES ALL THE VARIATIONS  SO LOOK CAREFULLY THERE ARE LOT OF LINES AND MISTAKES  ( Kf1 ) Kf1 is the best way to refuse the counter attack but is also very very risky and sharp line  Whites is up a rook  Whites king is very weak and open  Blacks all pieces are active and are ready to attack the king  Whites one wrong move can cost him the game LEMME SHOW YOU 1 EXAMPLE White plays 1 wrong developing move Nc3 ( which seems natural and normal ) and Blacks simply capitalize on that  So if u ask me Nxf7 is a very risky line Bxf7 is far more better and simple than that But yes Nxf7 is fun if u want u can try this  Its a good weapon to have in your repertoire    THAT'S ALL ABOUT TRAXLER COUNTERATTACK AND KNIGHT ATTACK LINE NEXT I WILL START ON GIUOCO PIANO I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND IT FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS !?
POLERIO DEFENCE ( Na5 ) Na5 is a popular and best way to defend against KNIGHT ATTACK , ACCEPTING THE FACT THAT BLACK IS A PAWN DOWN  firstly lets see a beginner mistake Nxd5 Nxd5 is simply lost for black  White is up a pawn  Black a 2 isolated pawn islands Blacks king cant castle Black can get rapid development but in long run its vry hard to defend pawn islands, white can easily win them 1 by 1  MAIN LINE In this position black has 2 options  C6 ( Better in my POV )  Bd7  LET'S ANALYZE THEM  ( Bd7 ) In this position queens are off the board white has a pleasant position in spite of having isolated pawn but i consider it as a passer ( since queens are off ) Taking b7 pawn is very risky it's considered as a poison pawn because :-  Blacks get fast development with tempo  It leads to draw , if white play normal developing moves like pawn d3   (shown in the diagram below ) DRAW IDEA Bd7 is playable bt white has a easy game and black dont have and counter  blacks all endgame is focus on stopping and winning that pawn. ( C6 )    After c6 white has 3 options  Bd3 Be2 Qf3 ( sideline )  ALL OPTIONS AFTER C6  ( Qf3 ) Bxc6+ is bad for white because :- Whites queen is misplaced ( black can gain a tempo ) Whites knight is under attack Black can easily swarm an attack ( look at the board ) Bd3 is Best for white because :- It prevent black from getting any e4 breaks It prevents any discovery attack on our knight for ex ( Nd5 ) ( Bd3 ) Bd3 is solid at the same time passive for white  The game is evenly balanced White is up a pawn but lack development Black is down a pawn but get an initiative Black can easily generate an attack  BUT, if black is not careful and didn't get any compensation white will easily win the endgame   ( There are sidelines also after Bd3 bt that will make this part more lengthy )  ( Be2 ) FORCED MOVE Be2 is a shaper position Black can justify his pawn down by lead in development But, White has easier time developing ( BLACK HAS TO BE MUCH MORE PRECISE IN Be2 LINE IF BLACK SLOWS DOWN  OR JUST GIVE 1 EXTRA MOVE WHITE CAN CASTLE AND DEVELOP NORMALLY ) + Black has a bad pawn structure ( lost in any endgame ) SO ALL THE MOVES IN Be2 ARE FORCED In this variation white give-up his extra pawn  After f4 en~passant is bad for black because it resolves all the problems in white position  After exd3, recapturing the pawn with the queen is best move but it's very risky after Rd8 so i prefer cxd3   THAT'S ALL ABOUT POLERIO DEFENCE I TRIED TO KEEP IT SIMPLE AND EXPLAIN IT AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE !! FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTION ?!
Fritz variation ( Nd4 ) Fritz is a side line of the knight attack its Bad for black if white know what he is doing .. But it is playable just to let white go out of prep  White is simply up a pawn and black has zero compensation for that but if someone dont know the theory they can go wrong in just 1 move  It's a fun variation u can try if u r >1500  THAT'S ALL ABOUT FRITZ VARIATION FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS !?
Ulvestad Variation (PAWN to b5) In Italian opening Black's mains weakness is F7 pawn ( Bec of Bc4) and Ng5 exploit just that We are able to play Ng5 bec blacks Dark square bishop is still inside and black cant castle   NOW LETS SEE WHERE SHOULD WE MOVE OUR BISHOP 1. Bxb5 In this variation ( Bxb5 ) Blacks get rapid development and can easily generate an attack on white if white is not fully aware  After H6 white has 2 options ( look at the board ) but Nf3 is bad bec again we move the safe piece twice and in between that black can rapidly develop his pieces ( look at the board ) . So Qf3 is the only move bec we get a counter attack on black  2. Bb3 ( misake ) Bb3 is a huge positional mistake black gets more piece activity and more space and can easily launch an attack  3. Bf1 ( best option ) This is the best way to play UNVESTED VARIATION Black lost all his initiative  Queen's are of the board  White is up a pawn plus more developed pieces  THAT'S ALL ABOUT UNVESTED VARIATION FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS
Knight attack is also called Fried liver and it Branches out as follows  Ulvestad Variation Fritz Variation Polerio Defence ( Most common one ) Bishop line
