(Young me on the left) I have so much mental energy , even if I'm physically and mentally exhausted I still consciously generate a multitude of ideas. I read a lot. Like if I find a particular genre I find a liking to I'll read a compilation of books specifically catered to that genre. My daily mental life is also filled with mediating different scenarios I might encounter through life, it's an arduous habit that came about from a time where I felt "insufficient", but that just basically made me walk down this hard path of learning wisdom beyond my years, hence the gray hairs that started to sprout well into my senior high school years, it just isn't worth it to think about the future. 3 moves in, 8 moves in , some deep calculations and only 1 move to win , that logic of wasting energy like that should be more feared than worrying about making the wrong/perfect move. So how does one adapt where you can't see a way forward? How can one have this "blind" trust in your position? The answer's in the question- POSITION. I watched tonight's arena king's on the chess.com's twitch channel where Alexandra Kosteniuk was commentating on the games , in one particular game between a 1700 and a GM (I believe) there was a trade happening and she said something along the lines of when a GM makes exchanges vs when a weaker player makes exchanges THAT the GM will always seemingly get the better end of those exchanges , why is that? To add onto the above paragraph I recently re-watched John Bartholomew's 1800-2000 ladder YT video and in the beginning he says something along the lines of "...in the 1800 to 2000 range, this is where the player accumulates and demonstrates positional knowledge..." (something like that,my memory all foggy, but the series is a great watch). In more ways than one that 1% of chess that's left over from the 99% of tactics is something called NEXT LEVEL chess. Positional Chess. The point being to provide for your position ,working with it and allowing the pieces and the knowledge you have of squares ,of trades of the basic aspects of chess to carry you, how do you know if something's good for you or not, you experience it, there's no magic method just long hours of work , working on yourself and your game ,make sure that the time you put in shows it's worth. But what comes after? What comes when you throw all your chess knowledge, everything you know and you discard what you have made second nature out the window and just play chess? Personality? Expression? Focus? Dynamism? Calm? Basics? As far as I know ,everything is limited yet subject to change. A few hundred years of history and novelties are still being made. Just some (hopefully) thought provoking paragraphs and ideas to mentally munch on. Bnova/Owlette/Plume Peace (Afterthought- Describing something in one word is difficult but on the other side of the coin it not only makes that something unique, but also gives it an omnipotent value that cannot be easily dismissed). [What level of comprehension is this? I don't know it's 03:22 am here and I'm about to knock myself out in my bed on this winter's night].

Can anyone find the solution of this beautiful endgame ? It is white to move . Here is the position - If you solve this you then you will get 1 trophy . First person to right the answer in this forum gets the trophy nothing for the second or third . And most important of all - Please do not use any kind of engines to do this puzzle . Good luck !

if you have Ruy Lopes in your opening repertoire or you are aspiring to become a Ruy Lopez player, there are a few lines you should study carefully besides the main line which goes like this : in the main line white is just striving to play d4 but he can't do that right away because of the Noah's Arc trap see: Noah's Arc trap so he has to prepare it with c3! a very odd looking move since you usually want to put the knight on c3, but in this very special case because you want to play d4 and Bc2 Grand masters of the past say it is OK to postpone the development of the knight. there are two critical moments that white and black player can diverge from the main line. if you check the opening explorer or the Wikipedia's page for Ruy Lopez it will give a dozen different variations all of which carry somebodies name, but in my experience if your not playing very slow time controls or at the master level all of those variations are not much different from the main line except for two: since the theory goes on and on in the Ruy Lopez I will stop right here. you should get the general idea in this lines. but the reason I started this article at all was not any of this. it was because of the second critical moment were black can branch off from the main line. take a look: to understand the amount of tactical complications that could arise in such a position I will give you one of my own games which was played today. I hope you enjoy it, the commentaries are also provided by myself so if you find any mistakes in my thought process I will be very thankful if you share them with me here is the link to the game on the server if want to do an analysis yourself : https://www.chess.com/live/game/2868523236

I once watched this anime where different kinds of god's were involved and the only way the "champion" (what they called the MC) could gain an advantage over these god's who had different kinds of "authority" (ie. power/source of omnipotence) was to become knowledgeable about their authorities, their historic impact or just simply what makes them relevant. "To know is to nullify" - essentially ,when you experience or learn something like a mathematical equation x+y , when you first saw this kind of sum/equation you probably felt some sort of dread ' oh no! what is this?!' but after reviewing the accompanying information you'd more than likely be like 'OH this isn't that dreadful'. When you have this deep rooted fear of height and one day you decide you want to go parachuting and the next thing you KNOW is that you've overcome your fear. Another example would be that one time you had this GREAT IDEA ,you knew in your heart this was revolutionary and you go through the steps of actively researching it and find out 'wait, it's not that great...' that's your mind telling you *it might not be great but it does have it's own special pros and cons, even if the idea had already existed for 100+ years* , you might feel dejected. (meh emotions) Knowing something relieves your mind and allows you to take comfort in a position that you might encounter again later on, and that's one of the reasons we need to review our games right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So let's just skip the long lines that sprung up in this 21 year old brother's 6 am Thursday brainstorm on how to start a thread that Sam Hyung asked me for...this is a game that I played just about 24 hours ago, let's ignore my not-so-proud of this game mentality and look through this utter beat down I received from General-to-the-Gmoves (imagine that guy from that 1998 movie Small Soldiers, I think his name was Major Chip Hazard ). vs First off, going with the theme, I encountered an entirely "new" variation , basic things you can do is just play how you normally play and review the line afterwards This is the Benko-Gambit Declined--Pseudo-Saemisch variation I feel like I made a ton of errors but managed to get out of the opening lasting 10 moves at the very least At move 12 I played Nde5, I should have played h5 just questioning the king-side pawn storm ,but my tiny brain went and played Nde5 , from another perspective I understood that while playing in UNFAMILIAR territory its easy to just blindly play what you "know" , but if it's not on your home ground ,those habits WILL be turned against yourself, always be mindful of not only your moves but also your own thinking process/yourself , it's important to question your state of mind and essentially 'nullifying' or simply attempting to resist that subconscious drive of playing leisurely in any game ,especially a Gambit. From move 11 and yonder there were many opportunities to take advantage of white's position, look at that king side, look at those light squares , wouldn't it be possible to play c4 and Nd3? giving away a pawn and a knight for a bishop for some breathing space and opening up the queen side more? Wouldn't the black queen feel happy on the a or b file? The rest of the game just went downhill , quite obviously and painfully so, but we learn, we grow and as experience piles up and you keep learning and improving on your shortcomings as every human does ,even if they're not conscious of it. Always question yourself, continuously look for ways to make threats , poke your opponent until you find his/her not-so-sweet-spot and win a well-earned game , Lord knows you deserve it if you work for it. Ending off with some 21 year old wisdom... Every great truth has a great contradiction. Peace out.

Hey Boomers! When I started out chess, I always played the Danish Gambit. Recently, I played against someone who played the Danish Gambit and I thought to make a YouTube video on how to counter against it. I had extra time today (rare indeed!) so I decided to give it a shot. (click the pic) It would be really awesome if you guys can give me some constructive criticism:- Is my voice too low?- Is the music too loud?- Is the video too short/long? - Am I talking too fast? - Is it useful at all? - Does it have any replay value at all? - Am I too sexy? - And so on... BOOM!

The tournaments will be going on at the same time. 4. The first place winner of each tournament wins a tier 1 sub to MTS' Twitch channel!! 5. In case of a tie it will be a randomized drawing for the winner! 6. The type of tournament will be determined by a vote during the week!
